Comparing Hatton to wlad is really beyond the pale. By which I mean the comparison is a step too far, not that Hatton is beyond pale, which he admittedly also is. Getting in before Irish pounces on that.

Agreed. Hatton's boringness is very overrated. He held too much post Tszyu but was still a fairly action packed fighter. And the pre Tszyu Hatton was very good to watch, speedy pressure fighter with good footwork and bodypunching, not a huge amount of holding.

Hatton and Wlad had one thing in common, apart from paleness, they both started their careers as raw, mistake prone fighters who drew critical acclaim for what they did, at that time. Well Hatton did anyways.

Disagree with MWS.......Hatton was at the holding BS before his shocking stoppages. Urango, for example.

Wlad decided to listen to Ben E King after the Brewster and Sanders setbacks, and when a HOF trainer told him to.

Hatton's mauling was annoying but it was more like Tyson's holding (which always seems to go unmentioned) - he'd leap in to cover distance in his attacks then get tangled up, sometimes as a defensive measure sometimes by accident. His holding almost always followed a genuine attack though.

That doesn't excuse it (or the shitty reffing that constantly said 'break' rather than 'fight your way out')....but it makes it qualititatively different to wald pussy's. wald the most estrogen fueled bitch fighter in boxing history now

 

Disagree. In the Urango fight he was holding purely as a defense mechanism, whenever Urango tried to initiate an attack. Fuck Hatton.

It says something that Paulie considers Broner the worst out of all the guys to have beaten him. Usually fighters will tend to big up the fighter they looked best against, which would clearly be Broner.

Was he hurt? All fighters hold when they're hurt, it happens. Another difference with Hatton and wald - if the ref let him (ie if there was a fucking semi-competent ref, god damn it) Hatton often fought out of clinches. wald only ever uses them as a ploy to escape fighting. Permissible if you're hurt - unforgivably fucking gay when you're dominating a fight

 

He wasn't hurt, I could understand it if he was hurt, he won practically every round but he was holding constantly.

He was bad to watch as well but like Hut pointed out Hatton at least tried to fight inside most of the time. It wasn't just about clutching and waiting for the ref to break it up. A heavyweight version of Hatton would cause more problems for Wlad than most of the guys he's fought.
