He blasted Roldan in 4, who was bigger than Crapnelo, and FAR stronger, and more powerful.

Correction, Canelo would be a VERY fringe contender in the 80's........ at BEST.

    He'd waste Alvarez

I can't believe that Hut is even entertaining the thought of Crapnelo being a challenge for Tommy.

    He'd receive the Cuevas treatment.

If Crapnelo fought the Fab 4 (or Fab 5 if you wanna include Benitez), he doesn't win a round off of any of them. And he gets stopped by all of them, except maybe Benitez. But Will would white wash him every single round, and it's possible he stops him late.

I didn't make any comment on Alvarez' ability or imply he'd have a chance against Hearns. I said he was big. He is. He's a solid >170lb in the ring. Bigger than Roldan. It goes without saying (or should) Hearns beats him I'm just pointing out Alvarez is 15lb bigger than Cuevas or Duran. Heavier guys tended to force Hearns back and make it a different type of fight.

Well I wouldn't exactly call it much of a struggle. Roldan did hurt Tommy, then Hearns recovered and proceed to put him to sleep very shortly after. But as I said, Roldan was a lot physically stronger and a lot heavier handed than Crapnelo.

He's 164-165 coming into the ring on average. I dunno where you and Cdogg keep getting this 170.

And I strongly disagree with him being bigger than Roldan. He wasn't. Roldan was thicker than Crapnelo, he was built stronger, and he WAS stronger. Roldan was forcing MARVIN FUCKING HAGLER to go backwards, and gave Hagler Hell because he was so strong. Do you envision in your WILDEST dreams Crapnelo man handling Hagler?

And force Hearns back? Hut........ FLOYD had the fuckin Ginger back pedaling. What the Hell do you think Hearns jab alone is gonna do to him?

Canelo isn't a pressure fighter as it is. Well, unless he's facing a total scrub like Lopez, or washed up Shitron.

He was 172 against Trout, apparently.

Sure, heavier guys who could fight and who were pressure fighters/brawlers

  14. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Given a 24 weigh-in, who knows what a Roldan could have weigh-in at.

What I do know is that Roldan was just naturally stronger than Canelo. Pounds don't equal strength. Canelo being heavier than Roldan doesn't make him stronger.

For the record, Roldan would have bulled Canelo and given him a beating.

Hearns blasted out ONE ranked guy above 154. The rest all went rounds and gave him at least minor difficulties. Tell yourselves what you will. The odds are against him giving 172lb Alvarez the 'Cuevas treatment'.

    Hearns KO 9

  17. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Only if Tommy spots him 6 rounds.

Canelo is just a crap fighter compared to Hearns. Weight would mean nothing. This isn't a little guy like Floyd hitting Crapnelo. It's the biggest right hand puncher of all time.

Canelo wouldn't last 9 rounds with Leonard, or Duran, let alone Hearns.

  18. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

Size matters. Lots of guys who were crap boxers compared to Tommy went 8+ rounds with him after he left 154.

Napoles beats both of those guys, yes.

Even Angelo Dundee told me that Napoles would beat Ray Leonard.

Benitez is one of my favorite fighters ever, but Napoles would pull it out late.

Hearns would smash Canelo within 3.

I would take Hearns BLIND FOLDED to still knock Canelo the fuck out.

As for Garcia vs Taylor???... I like Danny a lot and truly believe he is an excellent fighter. But other than power and chin, I think Taylor holds every major advantage and he'd win. The hand speed advantage alone would be a problem for Danny.

Napoles gets Whupped by Ray IMO

Agreed. And I think it would be bad. I can't think of one clear advantage he holds over a prime welterweight Leonard.

  28. Hut*Hut

    Hut*Hut The Mackintosh of temazepam

Yup. Just like all the other ranked 172lb guys with sturdy chins he smashed in 3 rounds.

Canelo is just a fat legged little 5'7 guy though. It would look like the Cuevas fight.

There aren't many things I can't be swayed on, even remotely but this is one of them. Alvarez has 20lb on Cuevas and that matters. Not enough to give him a chance of winning, but it matters.
