we may disagree on punk, but on hip-hop, you're dead on.. with a few exceptions (eg pre-Westside Connection Ice Cube) west coast hip-hop was whack as hell.. east coast is real hip-hop

Been revisiting allot of the music my Dad played when I was a really young kid recently for some reason. This was released before I was but he must've still been playing it quite a few years later because it's some of the first music I vividly remember.

    Yeah, he always does that

Shows up under a certain moniker (7-7-2, Mean Mr. Mustard, Dark magus) posts a lot and then grows bored and starts saying "sp*c" and "ni**er" until someone bans him... He's freely admitted to this strategy each time... I have no idea why he does this

2014 Rock Hall of Fame Nominees

Which of these make it into your personal music HOF? You can only pick 5 (if that).

    Chic
    Kiss
    Nirvana
    The Replacements
    N.W.A.
    Cat Stevens
    L.L.Cool J
    Deep Purple
    Hall and Oates
    Yes
    Peter Gabriel
    Linda Ronstadt
    Link Wray
    Paul Butterfield Blues Band
    The Zombies
    The Meters

Simply based on personal taste and overall influence, I would select Hall & Oates, The Replacements, Linda Ronstadt, Deep Purple, and The Meters.

Make your picks and don't worry about cdogg slamming your choices!!

Is the Rock HOF now just open to anybody from any genre? Yes I know not everybody in it is a pure rock guy/band, but is it now completely a music HOF?

    Basically.

I was trying to avoid a debate about the legitimacy of any Hall of Fame so just make your picks troublemaker.

Sry, wasn't trying to be a pain the ass honestly. I just don't even know what the criteria is based on when it comes to something that's as subjective as music is. It just complicates things even more because it's referred to as the Rock HOF.

I'm pretty much indifferent to Nirvana, but on impact on the industry alone i'd figure they should be in. NWA would have to be as well.

The only one on that list that I would hope never get inducted is KISS.

Out of those, I like Chic the best followed The Meters and Hall and Oates (I can't say I like H&O, but I admire their cheesy craftsmanship and Darryl Hall is a great singer... they are harmless fun)... Yes made one really good record and a bunch of really awful ones

The rest of those range from "means nothing to me" (The Replacements, NWA) to outright hostility (KISS, Ronstadt, Cat Stevens)

I had measles as a kid and was miserable. For some reason my Mom was in love with the song "Wild World" and played it all the time while I was home sick from school.

Every time I hear Cat Steven's voice now I literally get a fever and wanna puke.

Nirvana should be straight in, no question about it.

    Chic should get in too.
