Is Hopkins using HGH (Human Growth Hormone)?

Hopkins is almost 50 and still very good. How is this possible? Human Growth Hormone is the only hormone that stimulates the synthesis of new cells, while testosterone stimulates the growth of those cells. HGH stimulates the syntesis of not only muscle cells, but also bone cells, skin cells and even hair cells. It also reduces body fat. It can prolong a vital healthy life. After the age of 30 we start producing less of this hormone. At the age of 60 we naturally produce only 10% of what we used to produce. So do you guys think he is using HGH? Being a freak of nature can't explain everything, can it. Perhaps we should all start using it?

Hops would be a great trainer. He's got so many tricks and that old school mentality.

I suspect that Vitaly might be on HGH aswell. He is 42 and by far the best heavyweight in the world.

He's also running for President. At the same time as being HW Champ. So you can throw Creatine in too.

Apparently Vitali wants to go into business with him, but Wlad only wants a holding company.

Hops just has a style that works when you are any age, plus anyone with good speed and who threw a lot of punches he has had a fight with has beat him.

Sorry, they might not all be All-Time greats, but Cloud, Dawson, Pascal, Pavlik, and Calzaghe could fight a little bit.

Being competitive with or beating those guys at 42+ years old is solid work.

I can't stand Hopkins recent style, but his performance and success while over 40 has been impressive.

IMO, all top boxers uses ped to a degree or another. And while, yes it may be of more benefit to older fighters than younger one, thus leveling a bit the playing field, it still is amazing that Hopkins is able to hang with the best at nearly 50 y.o. (and yes, I also knows that it got a lot to due with the type of opponents he's fighting).

On one hand its impressive that he's able to be competitive and win against these guys, but I have to agree that for the most part his opponents are just not good fighters.

I don't think Hopkins could beat Andre Ward today. And if he drops to 160, he would probably lose to Sergio Martinez.

Would like to see him train some up and coming guys, though.

Not really. Technically, you're correct how you phrased it, but if you meant to suggest that a Ped free-for-all would be more of a benefit to older fighters in comparison to younger fighters, I think that is incorrect. Peds might give different benefits to different fighters, but that doesn't really level the playing field. It also presupposes that all fighters are using Peds, which you claim, but which isn't really a fair assertion. Plus, even if it were true, it doesn't mean that everyone is maximizing their own playing field by choosing the correct Peds.

Hopkins looks very good at the stage he is in.. I think it's a gym-rat lifestyle and hard work

I don't think he is on it but even if so he is still impressive

I think it's obvious that PED is more of a benefit to an older fighter than younger ones. For example, when you get older, you're body produces less testosterone naturally, one way to combat it would be to take steroids. You might think that a younger fighter taking the same ammount of synthetic testosterone would still have the same edge in total testosterone (as he produces more natural testosterone) but it wouldn't be the case as the body shuts down the tes productions when it's provided by another source (that's why you're supposed to cycle or else you balls won't be able to start up agains and you'll be in the Chael Sonnen boat).

As for leveling the playing field, I worded it incorectly. You're right, some fighters have access to better drugs than others (especially the rich one with a big team behind them). What I meant to say is that PED can reduce the hindrance of age so it's probably not as big of a deal as it was 20-30 years ago to see a fighter in his 40 doing well.

Sure, but 25x over the limit is what it is. All of the cheating piece of shit bicyclists are still in their prime ages, not 45. Olympic track athletes aren't in their 40's.

There are other PEDs than just testosterone, too. Every aspect of making a fighter better can be improved with PEDs.
