Was anyone going to buy the ppv? I really like a lot of the fights on the card, but there was no way in hell I was going to pay to see Tito Ortiz fight Rampage Jackson in 2013. That was the fight I least wanted to see on the card.

Now, with Tito getting hurt, Bellator is putting this card on free tv and it really has the chance to do well. Hell, I'd have to look at a list of all of the events this year, but I think it might be one of the top 2 or 3 best cards from top to bottom, especially in terms of interesting matchups.

They had me at Chandler-Alvarez II.

By the way, I think Daniel Strauss is one of the top Featherweights in the world. His bout with Curran is a very solid co-main.

It's hard to get behind Curran 100% becase he didn't seem all that great when he joined Bellator. He's really put together a nice streak of wins, though, and looked very solid in doing it.

They said they added the Fightmasters final to the televised portion now. Were they really going to not show that fight on the ppv? That doesn't make any sense.

When Curran first joined Bellator he was fighting at 155. He looked decent and even lasted thru a good beat down by Alvarez.

After the Alvarez fight, Curran moved down to 145 and has been just short of spectacular with highlight reel wins over Sandro and Joe Warren. Curran is a very good featherweight.

I had planned on ordering it. A rematch between the two best 155ers on the planet is worth every penny, in spite of the silly main event.

This was never going to be a PPV. It was nothing but a feeling out process. The reception of the PPV announcement scared them to make the right call.

So do you think Ortiz's injury is not real?

A PPV worthy fight, but not the 2 best lightweights in the world.

I hope one or both eventually gets the chance to prove me wrong.

I'm a huge Chandler fan. I hope he destroys Alvarez. Chandler will be a huge star in the UFC in a couple of years.

If it's real, he has known about it for a while now. that's IF it's real.

Tito versus Rampage should have never been the main event. That made the company look like crap. Instead of promoting their own champions they gave the main event slot to two over the hill UCF rejects. Talk about making yourselves look like a second class promotion. They should only bring UFC rejects to feed them to their stars, not to put them on main events of PPVs. Very silly approach by Bellator.

I don't doubt the injury was fake or known, I was just wondering if it was more than (reasonable) speculation.

What was the PPV supposed to cost, anyway? They might have been able to get away with it at $20 or $25 and had decent buys, but I think they are better off just getting Spike money and hoping the ratings reflect the quality of the event.

alvarez hasn't fought in a while. i wonder how he'll deal w/ inactivity and also going against a guy who withstood his attack and finished him.

He'll deal with it by losing again. But it will be fun to watch in the process.

As it turns out, one of the best things about this card is the number of times I've seen the replay of King Mo getting knocked out by a backfist during advertisements for the rematch.

    Love that video.

I like mo too. The problem is that he is not that good. And him winning does nothing for MMA or Bellator since he will probably lose his next fight.

As a MMA fighter I agree. When I was watching him train his hands don't really impress me. He has real good wrestling when he actually uses it. If they stand Newton probably wins again. If Mo takes him down maybe not.

By the way, I just read Tito's injury was a broken neck.

So Ortiz has now broken his back and neck while training in MMA...

I'm fucking furious. I had to work tonight so I DVR'd the fight, but because the card ran too long, the tape cut off before the 5th round, even with adding the extra half hour. Bellator needs to learn how to run a fucking show.

I had it 2-2 going into the final round. Reading, people seemed split on who won. But Alvarez is the man, and I can't wait for the rubber match.

Dana lucked out not signing Alvarez. He is lucky he got the decision, but would get killed in the UFC.

He proved tonight he's the best 155 pound fighter on the planet, and Chandler is a close second.

The strange thing about the decision is, the round the judges split on was the 3rd, which was clearly Alvarez's round. To me, the 2nd was much closer.

Nah. both guys get hit way too much. Pettis would beat them both and i would also pick melendez over both. I doubt Dana has any interesting in signing Alvarez ever again.

Chandler won rounds 1,2 and 4 on my card. No way Alvarez proved to be the best at LW based off last night.
