Pettis vs Thomson Faber vs Mcdonald Condit vs Brown Mendes vs Lentz Gastelum vs McGee Dodson vs Jorgensen Varner vs Healy Lauzon vs Danzig
I greatly dislike the obligatory "showcase the new marketable champion" fights in the UFC. This kind of stuff shouldn't be going on in the top promotion at championship level. Josh Thomson has the be one of the most undeserving title contenders since Dan Hardy.
what about Condit Brown, you think that will be competitive or an early stop for Condit? I hope Brown knocks him out but he might be out of his league.
That's horseshit. Josh finished Nate Diaz in very impressive fashion. Most people thought he also beat Melendez in their last fight. He also easily beat Healy who was sniffing a title shot before his last fight.
Pettis should have no problem beating Thomson. I couldn't care less if I ever see Faber fight again or not. Condit\Brown should be fun, and Condit 'should' win, but who knows. Brown has been on a hell of a roll lately. TFK
Condit probably has the best chin in the division. He's never been knocked out. I've never seen him seriously hurt. And he's faced most of the best in the division. Hendricks stunned him a couple of times but never really hurt him. Brown is tough and on a roll but Condit is a huge step up,
Jake Ellenberger was quite literally a punch or two away...that fight wasn't that long ago. Secondly 1-1 with the guy who beat you still in the division isn't exactly huge credentials for a title shot. Nate Diaz was coming off a loss when Josh beat him. He beat Pat Healy, a mid level fiighter who just lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov, a guy who in actuality has better claim to a title shot than Thomson. The only reason this fight is made is because UFC wants Pettis to have a showcase and the phony twitter beef or whatever.
I like Khabib a lot. When you have a guy like Pettis as champ, you should market him. He's the most watchable guy in the sport if matched up correctly. Correctly means don't match him up against a lay and pray wrestler.
