Yeah, Pat Ford and Pat Cowdell shit on Donaire... He sucks... He can't fight at all... Sanchez beat the shit out of so many natural counterpunchers... etc., etc
When the Hell did I say Donaire "sucked" or "can't fight at all"? He's obviously a quality fighter, but an overrated one. I wouldn't consider Donaire an all time great as I would Sanchez. Sanchez was a class above him. I don't know how in the world you can doubt that.
Each other for starters :: If we're talking strictly lower weights, Morales and Barrera. If we're talking higher weights, then I think Donaire will struggle like crazy against bigger guys he can't hurt.
The higher weights are irrelevant since he's never fought there JMM never fought Morales and he fought a past-prime Barrera I don't see Morales or Barrera having an easy time with Nonito
Is he not as good as Pat Ford and Pat Cowdell, both of whom Sanchez failed to beat the shit out of? That's the thing... You are picking a one-sided asskicking between Sal and Donaire... There's nothing but hyperbole to support that
And how many levels is Sanchez above a guy like Vasquez Jr? Sanchez often fought up the level of his opposition, and given if this is a "big fight" I have little doubt that he'd slowly take Donaire apart. Nonito is very hittable, and Sanchez's power is highly underrated. I see Donaire holding his own for awhile, but by the late rounds Sanchez begins beating him up.
What tall counterpuncher did Sanchez beat the shit out of? Forget the whole "fighting to the opposition"... There's no evidence of that because there's no counter-example of Sanchez ever beating the shit out of a tall countepruncher
Donaire isn't tall though, he only looked tall at flyweight. Isn't he only 5'6 or so? And cdogg, I'm confident both Morales and Barrera would beat him. I think they're both better fighters and more well rounded. Barrera is crafty when he wants to be, see Hamed, and Morales despite being an idiot, can box a disciplined fight when needed, see the first Pacquiao fight.
Pat Cowdell was 5'7... I mean it more in the sense that he fights tall Morales is a daft cunt I mean if we are going to play the extremes game, Guty Espadas got robbed against Morales... Therefore... Speed was Barrera's Waterloo... I think Barrera could beat Donaire, I think Morales could beat Donaire... I haven't once said otherwise... What I find ridiculous is the "beat the fucking shit out of" histrionics... This guy can end a fight with one punch... Fighters go into their shells against him... When has Darchinyan ever treated a guy with so much respect? ... Even Rigondeaux had to fight a near perfect fight and he still got knocked on his ass... Donaire would be a dangerous fighter in any era
Donaire can punch yeah, but remember cdogg, Vic is a little dewd. He's a 5'5 career flyweight. Same with Gondo, he is a small guy, he looks small even at bantamweight. So are most of the other guys he's smashed. He recently fought 3 guys his own size, Vazquez, the South African guy, and Nishioka. While his power was still evident, it wasn't as devastating as against the smaller guys he's been blitzing. Not enough for me to think it would be a huge factor against Morales and Barrera, who both proved they can take a punch. Same with Marquez and Pacquiao.
So Amir Khan is one-dimensional because he can't fight inside for shit, but Donaire gets a pass for not being able to lead? Interesting.
Nishioka got iced the second he actually tried fighting His size is the most overrated thing about him... He's not a big guy... How the hell is Darchinyan a career flyweight? It's ridiculous...
Amir Khan is a third-rate pretender... He gets shit on because he's a shitty fighter Donaire is a multiple time world champ... "He can't lead for shit"... How many times has he lost? How many times has he been knocked the fuck out like your boy?
Because he's had most of his fights at flyweight :: Vic is a flyweight for sure. He was normal sized at flyweight, he looks small at bantam. I agree Donaire isn't huge, but he is a natural bantam or super bantam imo. He was big at flyweight.
Chin is irrelevant. I'm not saying that Khan is better than Donaire or that he has a better chin than my nan, because both statements would be untrue. What I will say though, is that Khan is very good if you allow him to work from range. From the outside he is extremely effective, whatever you think of his boxing ability, if he has space he can do a lot of damage. Donaire may have bailed himself out a few times but its clear he has a hard time of it when he's forced to lead. Is that not one-dimensional?
He has a hard time of it and wins all but one fight (the early career loss is pretty irrelevant to this Donaire) and this is against top opposition Khan has beaten who exactly?
This is about as scientific as Alchemy, man... Darch turned pro as a Junior Bantam, not a Flyweight... Was he just feasting on tiny Flyweights with his natural three pound weight advantage? Is Floyd Mayweather a career Lightweight? According to Boxrec's weight listings, Vic has had 15 total bouts at Flyweight... That's significantly less than half of his 36 pro fights Mayweather had 30 fights where he weighed 135 or less, out of 45 fights... Is he a career Lightweight? Darchinyian is short, that is not the same thing as tiny (relatively speaking... obviously, he and Donaire are both tiny by normal standards)
Weird, I thought all of Vic's early fights were flyweight. Either way, he has more fights at flyweight than any other weight, so absolutely he's arguably a career flyweight. He fought at super flyweight as recently as 2010 and won a title there, so it's not comparable to Floyd, who hasn't fought at lightweight for an entire decade. Considering fighters fight more frequently early in their career, I guess timespan would be better. Floyd fought at 130 to 135 for 7 years, and has since fought over a decade at 140+. Vic on the other hand fought from 2000 to 2010 at flyweight and superflyweight. He's only fought at bantam and super bantam for 3 years, so at most he's a career super flyweight. Basically he looks the right size at flyweight, he looks small at 118.
Okay, using time span as a measure... So Nonito Donaire fought from 2001 to 2010 at Flyweight and Junior Bantam (same as Vic) ... why does he have an unfair size advantage?
Donaire is big. Just as big as most of the 126s out there and certainly as big or bigger than anyone at 122. He probably could go as high as 135 like Pacquaio. He's even admitted it himself. Every time I see him fight he dwarfs the guy he's fighting and it's the main reason I've never rated him
He's one inch taller and was two pounds lighter in the ring than Darchinyan It's like Lennox Lewis vs. Tommy Burns!!! Bloody outrage!!!
To be honest I'm not saying he does :: I don't think he's huge, but he looks like a natural bantam, and Vic is more like a super flyweight at best. As I said, Vic looks normal sized at flyweight/super fly as in the same size as his opponents, and the same goes for Donaire at bantam. In every weight class you get guys that are big or small at the weight. Look at Hopkins, he IS a career middleweight, but looked fucking big there, bigger than pretty much everyone he fought. My point was more you can't put too much stock into Donaire blasting guy's Vic size when talking about him against solid 122 pounders like Morales and Barrera. My point was more Vic (and Nonito's other opponents) Vs Morales and Barrera in terms of size. Those guys are much bigger than Vic. If the Nishioka fight is anything to go by, his power is still good at 122, but Morales and Barrera are in a different league, and can both take a punch.
Yeah a lot of height listings are dodgy. He certainly looked more than an inch taller. Their listed height is 5'5 and 5'6 I think. Have you seen either one in person?
Boxrec is listing him as 5'5 1/2 - http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=boxer&human_id=48243 There is no way he is that small. He looks significantly taller than guys who are listed around the 5'5 mark. I seem to recall him being listed at 5'7 in previous fights, but Top Rank are listing him as 5'6.
Darchinyan also fights out of a semi-crouch while Donaire tends to fight tall and straight... this makes a considerable difference He looks an inch, inch and a half taller here tops
