    SPOILER

I gave the movie a 7.8 out of 10......i think it had potential to be an all time great but for me what brought it down was simply a lack of action, not enough character development for pretty much anyone, and not a creative enough ending....we all knew that that bitch from NASA was a damn computer or at least strongly suspected it....it needed an amazing twist at the end and it didnt fully deliver...i still enjoyed it though

I actually thought the twist at the end was good.

I agree with a lot of your review, especially the lack of action and character development. On top of that the dialogue left a lot to be desired and I found it very predictable and yet confusing throughout the first 3/4 of the film. The worst thing was it was boring and for anyone to say it's better than Watchmen is a laughable statement especially coming from somebody who is supposedly a big fan of Watchmen. Watchmen had strong character development, great dialogue, flow, better and deeper characters, and much better action sequences. Oblivion had none of that, other than okay action sequences which usually just consisted of flying orbs spraying hundreds of bullets and 1 nice Tom Cruise fight scene.

I'd give it about a 5.5/10 with no intention of sitting through it again.

    *SPOILERS*
    Things I found predictable.
It was obvious the so called aliens were going to be human.
I knew Cruise and the chick would be a clone (even though I got that idea from seeing the Moon movie).
When Cruise was fighting the other clone, and they got off 1 shot, I knew the instant it happened that that shot hit the girl.

Not trying to sound all smart, and I'm sure others knew this stuff too. Just showing how I thought it was predictable. Obviously it would have been less predictable if I hadn't seen the trailer, but I'm not sure that would have made the movie much better...to me.

They showed this in the trailer.

Not sure what gave you any indication that they would be clones. Nothing in the movie could have tipped you off to it.

You and everyone that saw it probably knew the same thing.

    I said this.
Yet you still felt the need to say this:
That's an easy one. It was his memories/dreams. Also like I said he was doing a job very similar to the one in the sci-fi film Moon where he has nearly completed his contract and is supposedly waiting for the time where he will get to return home.

    I said this:
Yet you still felt the need to say this:

One thing I noticed reading reviews on IMDB about Oblivion. Even though almost everyone gave it high stars nearly every one did it for the same reason. Almost every positive review centered on the beautiful visual effects. I'm not going to lie, the effects were awesome but that doesn't make it a good movie. It's one positive surrounded by a lot of negatives and yet somehow this one positive seems to have fooled people into thinking they saw a good film. I even thought Morgan Freeman was a waste as he didn't bring his usual flare to the project. He was just like any other actor in that film.

I was a good movie not just because of the visuals. Think of how many movies are great that you hate Lib. And morgan freeman hasnt had flare in years.

    Just watched this last night.

    Question:

Every Jack clone, has a Victoria clone on their outpost who monitors his work and communicates with Sally.

When clone 49 crashes in the radiation zone and fights with clone 52 and beats him down. Why didnt 52's Victoria see this through the camera on the aircraft sitting there?

Wasnt he out of range? Plus many times Victoria couldn't physically see what jack was doing, but just saw the beacon and GPS of his location.

The only time 49 was out of range was when he went in a canyon.

Whenever he was on the edge of the radiation zone he was always in range I think.

    Anyway very good movie.

Nice to see the love for this movie. I just rented in to watch again. Saw it in the theater twice. One of my favorite sci fi films ever. You can tell it is a tribute to other films, not a rip off. It merged commonly used themes into a solid story.

I watched the special effects film and they said that they wanted to "bring sci fi back into the daytime". They did very well and it looked great.

5.5 is a pretty high rating for a film you hated

Not really. I have to judge the film on different factors and it's quality, not on how much I enjoyed it.
