Can Froch go the distance with a young Roy??..

My gut tells me no. I think 168 Roy gets him out in the mid rounds.

 

No way. Roy smashes him. Froch is very basic. He's one of those fighters that has great mental attributes, and not so much physical ones. Roy by KO in say 6.

 

Roy beats him UD. Froch's chin is too strong. Roy could possibly stop him with a body shot though.

 

Froch wouldnt see the end against Calzaghe. Roy would have ended him.

He absolutely could stop him and I doubt he'd lose a round. Froch himself even admitted he would have had to knock Calzaghe out to have any chance of winning as there would be no way he could outbox him.

I've yet to see the fight but everything I've read said Groves was outboxing Froch and clearly winning the fight. Whether or not Joe and George fight alike the point being made was that Carl couldn't outbox either thus needing a KO to win.

I also read where the two scores having it a one point advantage for Groves was questionable as well.

How did you see the fight?

 

Groves was tiring and getting a bit sloppy, but still well in the fight. He definitely led by more than a point too, the judge who had it 78-73 was much closer to the mark. GG couldn't miss with right hands, the difference in hand speed seemed to catch Froch by surprise from the off, as did George's power. Groves was patient and measured, timed his attacks well, where as Frochs bursts seemed to come from pure desparation as he couldn't control the pace with his jab.

 

Calz wouldn't have stopped Froch. But at the same time, no, Froch wouldn't have won. Calz would have beaten Froch by a clear margin.

 

I'd pick Froch over Calzaghe

I think we should all bear in mind Froch is 36 and coming off about 10 fights in a row against world champs, most of which went the distance. Its not he's spent the first half of his 30s playing pattycakes with pansies like Joke Slagfaggy.
