DeGale thrives off of guys attacking him, he struggles when forced to lead. Groves forced him to lead and he still only "won" by a point. DeGale beats Froch.

 

Forget styles, DeGale would lose because he's not very good.

 

Yet wasn't out on his feet against Georgie Porgie at any stage...ok

 

Doesn't matter. George has improved, he literally looks better fight by fight. DeGale has stagnated. I think my boy Ginger Groves stops "Chunky" in a rematch.


I think Frock stops Groves again in a rematch btw. This time he'll know what to expect and not underestimate him.

I think DeGale's career has stagnated for sure, but I wouldn't necessarily say he's looked worse, he's just looked bored fighting shit opponents. It's funny you say Groves stops DeGale in a rematch when the only guy who was hurt in the first fight was Groves, I watched the fight again this morning and DeGale landed the harder shots throughout.

 

The question is does this make a case for a rematch with Ward? I'll Holla 5000

Finally caught the "stoppage" that was terrible. Groves seemed a little weary but I'm not certain he would have gone down if he'd managed to hold on. he wasn't anywhere near out on his feet. The way both guys were flailing and throwing wide shots, Froch could have easily gotten starched.

Based on what I saw coupled with the judges cards...the fix was definitely in.

Froch looked terrible.

 

I think what made the stoppage bad was that Groves had been so well in the fight and had a good chance of winning: had Froch controlled the fight, such stoppage wouldn't cause much controversy. It was quick yes, but Groves was hurt from the first looping right and Froch began to land hard shots. The ref was looking it close, and Groves' buckling legs after the stoppage indicate that it wasn't probably THAT bad of a ruling.

So premature yes, but very bad only because of the context of the fight, which refs usually are not supposed to consider

 

Well Ugo, I could understand what you're saying if it had come after an accumulative beating, but in any other scenario it's just a terrible stoppage. He got caught with a couple of good shots and was walking forward and still throwing when the ref jumped in. He didn't look that hurt to me, shaky yeah, but it seemed he was covering up whilst Froch pushed him around and tried to impose his strength. He never looked out on his feet or anything.

Plus, he landed a few good shots on Froch earlier in the round. It's not as though the shots were that devastating.

Carl's a prideful guy and deep down he knows Groves got the better of him. I'd be shocked if he didn't give him an immediate rematch.

I've watched the fight 3-4 times now. Froch took an awful lot of punishment throughout. Groves was on him like a rash with those right hands. My pick in a RE would be Groves via brutal knockout.

 

Froch immediately said to Groves after the fight "get away from me", or something along those lines, then he went back up to Groves and said well done and said I'll give you a rematch. Now he wants none of it.

 

normally i dont give a rats ass about watching froch fights but maybe ill check it out.
