That was a cool fight from Stevenson because he was forced to lead and dominated the fight anyway.

Yeah that was weird. It looked like Stevenson could have killed him there if he wanted to.

Good point by Kellerman. Stevenson is probably the fighter of the year.

lol, wtf was with that happy new year ?? Disapointed that he didn't gave a shout to Haiti like he did when he beat Cloud.

I don't care that Stevenson and Kovalev don't fight each other next, but I want both of their next fights to be a superfight, not a showcase.

I don't think Stevenson does poorly against Kovalev.

Best style against a straight forward puncher is a counterpuncher and Stevenson seems like he has good enough defense to trouble Kovalev as long as he isnt baited into wild exchanges.

who would have thought that this fag looking Nicky Piper was a former commonwealth champion ?? He looks like a nerd.

Compare how Kellerman interviewed Stevenson to how he interviewed Kovalev. The man is a disrespectful sack of shit. As for Stevenson, horrible performance, any decent fighter would have had him on the mat several times. That stupid leap-in-leap-out nonsense, where he brings his feet way too close together. Bellew couldn't do a thing with Nathan Cleverly. Fighter of the year for beating a man who lost to Bernard Hopkins, a man who lost to Jean Pascal and a man who lost to Nathan Cleverly? Max is a clever Solomon, he knows how to plant a seed, get fools nurturing it.

Kovalev takes this chump out handily. Stevenson was nailed when he landed his own knockdown blow.

Amazing isn't it. He went 11 rounds with Nigel Benn, and didn't turn into Harvey Price afterwards.

Yes winning a majority decision is much more impressive than winning all 5 rounds en route to a knockout victory.

    Yah, that would be seismic.

adonis would carve up kovalev. He's way too basic, he'll get counterpunch to death.

I hate Kellerman as much as anybody, but you're really reaching there

If anyone is "basic" its Stevenson. What's with his feet? All that Jermaine Failure twitching and flitting??? Granted, Stevenson is a pair of canines away from full baboon status, so I would give him every chance of just having too much atavistic throwback for a humanoid like Kovalev, but if anyones basic, its Stevenson. He was tagged when he landed his most telling shots and was given a bloody nose by a guy who couldn't move Cleverly with his best punch.

Kovalev hasn't been tested by anyone of merit.

    We'll see.

I think Kovalev vs Froch or Hopkins or Bute or Pascal would be an interesting test at this point. All of those guys are proven.

"hey, huh, still learning the English, hey"?

The guy is a douche. Its not like Stevenson sounds like anything other than a loud Gay Parisienne, with his high pitched Franco squawking, but Kellerman never brought that up.

Kovalev vs Froch is no test for Kovalev now. Froch has not campaigned at 175, he's got a lot of wear and tear and was easy as hell to hit. Kovalev would stop Pascal and make Hopkins get DQ'd or just run all night.

Bellew was no test. He was strangely static in the Cleverly fight, and looks like an overrated stick insect who should be at 200. He's so slow its incredible.

Froch has no fuckin chance of beating Kovalev. None.

    Good performances by both guys.

    Kovalev simply destroyed that guy.

Stevenson was fine, always difficult when fighting a guy that's trying not to fight, Bellew was super negative, when you fight like that you either lose a boring UD or get stopped, and he got stopped.
As expected Bellew really offered nothing, just an average fighter that has no variety in his punches, jab cross and that's it.

I think Stevenson and his camp really want no part of Kovalev, don't think his chin would hold up, although Kovalevs chins is un-tested also.

Great potential fight, I would rather see them fight other people first, then have that fight at the end of the year.

Forget Stevenson, I'm starting to think that Kov would KO Ward. But HBO won't let that fight happen. They're gonna keep trying to tell the public that GGG is Ward's biggest threat, even though he's not. Golov is too small for Ward. Kov isn't, and I think Kov has the skill, size, and timing to catch Ward. I mean, Ward has a solid defense, but he's not Floyd or Whitaker. Fuck it! What I'm trying to say is that I think Kov is the best fighter from 168-175. Ward is the ONLY guy who has a legit chance of beating him.

Agreed. The dude is savage, you see fighters get sickened and concede the fight mentally once they taste his power.

Stevenson has a hell of a chance of beating Kovalev.

And his shots don't even look like land hard/cleanly, and guys just go flying. Based on that, I think he might be the P4P number one puncher. Previously we all thought that GGG or Matthysse was the biggest puncher, but I don't think there power is as effortless as Kov's. Ward has to fight a PERFECT fight to beat Kov. If Kov lands cleanly, I think Ward is a goner.

Not if Kov has a sturdy chin he doesn't. If Kov has a solid chin, the Pimp gets walked down and brutalized. And just LOOKING at Kov and that enormous jaw he has, and the fact that he's Russian, I'd venture to say he has a good chin.

  29. Azazel

I have a gut feeling that if the going gets rough, Kovalev will back it up and fight even harder. I'm not so sure with Stevenson

Agreed, Kovvles seems to take punches well. They don't bother him as much as they do Stevenson. I'd venture Kovvles has the better power and chin. Unless he somehow has a glass chin, I don't see Stevenson beating him.

Kovalev is not just aggressive and powerful, he's fairly quick for a light heavy, and has good timing and accuracy. I think be bludgeons Stevenson.
