Didn't Rigo only fight once this year? Even though he had the biggest win i don't think a single victory is enough for fighter of the year.

That said there is no clear winner i think in my mind. I'd vote for Bradley.

He fights again this month, tbf. Beating Donaire (last years FOTY, imo) is the stand out achievement of the year

Meh, a win (especially decision) against Judah is worthless. I can see the argument for Stevenson though.

Didn't know Rigondeaux is fighting again this year. Depending on how he performs he can move ahead of Bradley or Stevenson.

Of course, but I disagree with Hut that Rigo-Donaire was better than Provo-Bradley.

I think Stevenson may get Fighter of the year

Stevenson's win over Dawson was pretty spectacular, no matter what your opinion is of Dawson. No one predicted such an emphatic win in less than 2 minutes of the 1st round (or whatever it was).

A better WIN, not a better fight. Nobody has a victory more impressive than that this year.

Delete this thread and start over and include the fights for each candidate. I nominate Daiki Kameda and Omar Narvaez.

I have no beef with Stevenson, I think he's a good fighter, but he beat a guy coming off a stoppage loss (to Andre Ward of all people), a guy coming off a loss to a geriatric Hopkins, and Bummy Bellew. No way he should get it.

In terms of skill and overall technical ability for sure, but watching the two fights live I was on the edge of my seat much more for Provo-Bradley then Rigo-Donaire, but of course I acknowledge how good Rigo and Donaire are technically.

No way do Provo or Bradley deserve fighter of the year.

Sorry Jim, we've been talking past each other here, mate. By the highlighted bit I meant last years fighter of the year, Donaire. I should've made that clearer. And that Rigo beating Donaire was 'by far' the bigger achievement than Prov's performance vs Braddles.

Dunno my dudebros, I don't see that one win being good enough to make Gondo the fighter of the year.

I was as impressed as anyone, amazing performance imo, Gondo looked superb. But the thing is, Nonito looked like shit, and he has looked relatively crap in about 50% of his fights within the previous 2 years.

Yeah I know, Gondo made him look that way, which is true to a large extent, but he looked pretty average against Narvaez, Vazquez, and Mathebula, and then got outboxed by fucking Vic in his very next fight.

My opinion has often seesawed on Donaire, but to be honest I just don't think he's THAT good. With the right opponent he can look spectacular given his hard, fast, laser guided counterpunches, but he's very limited. If you know how to fight him I think he's a very beatable fighter.

Having said all that, he doesn't have much competition. It's between him and Garcia for me.

Agreed, no fucking way should he get it. Doorson looked like shit Vs Ward, and was even stopped by Ward

Then he beat a couple of other random fighters who aren't even world class. He put himself firmly on the map, but none of those wins are good enough to get him fighter of the year.
