We saw what a past prime Judah was able to do.

What happens if Danny would have faced Zab in 2000/2001?

Judah by late TKO, probably. Wouldn't bet on it, though. That Judah was unquestionably superior physically, but more careless & less mature

Judah's lack of fear due to his chin not being tested yet made him dangerous, but Danny is the kind of mentally strong and smart boxer to not be fazed by this. Danny would probably taste the canvas early on, but catches Judah late and ends this shit.

I'd actually go with Judah. The difference in speed between Zab in his 20's and the Zab that Garcia fought is HUGE! I could see a prime Judah nailing Danny with many shots he never sees coming, and hurting him pretty badly. Plus, while Zab was never a defensive specialist, the fact that his reflexes were SOOO much better in his prime would have made him a harder target. Gimme prime Judah by UD over Garcia.

I'd have to pick Judah too. He has always been unpredictable, and lacking focus and discipline but an on point Judah was an excellent fighter.

Based on their actual fight, you'd have to pick Judah really, unless you think it was Zab's added experience and maturity that led to his success against Garcia.

Zab used to fold at the first sign of adversity, he didn't do that in later fights (Cotto, Garcia). Then again, it could be argued that a young Judah wouldn't have to face much adversity against Garcia, who I still view as a pretty ordinary fighter.

Zab's never been heartless per say. Never been the brightest fighter out, but I think he's always had heart. He did fall apart mentally against Floyd, but........ Danny is no Floyd. The Zab that fought Floyd would have beaten Garcia comfortably.

I agree, in fact I'd say Zab's main problem has always been the fact that he's mentally weak and a bit of a bitch. He would almost always fold mentally against good opponents.

Where as by the time he fought Garcia, he'd actually grown some balls and didn't fold at all, I can't believe he actually finished stronger than Garcia, the opposite of classic Zab fights.

So yeah, it's tricky, the younger Zab was more adverse to folding in the face of adversity, but there's a good chance he flattens Garcia or tames him enough to not have to fight through any adversity.

Judah trained poorly for baldomir and barely lost when he couldn't take him out early

Stamina might've played a factor but the fact remains he fell apart mentally.. iirc he was winning handily until he got clipped, then he started running around & acting retarded/not fighting

But that wasn't Judah at his best.

Zab really wasn't the same after the Tszyu fight.

who exactly did he beat before the Tszyu fight? Mickey Ward? Terron Millett?

    your killing me C-Dogg.

But on a serious note, Judah fought with more confidence pre-Tszyu and he was more offensive minded.

I think that one shot KO loss changed Judah's mentality and approach to fights.

Post-Tszyu, Judah to me just seemed less confident and less willing to pull the trigger.

For example... I don't believe a pre-Tszyu Zab loses to Baldomir. I think he beats him clearly the way he beat Ward.

    Just my thoughts.

I honestly don't see how he fought with more confidence... He looked confident against every bum he's whupped post-tszyu... he just wasn't good enough to beat world-class guys

True. But I don't consider Baldomir world class and he also beat Judah. I just don't think the Judah who beat Millet and Ward would lose to a Baldomir. Fighters like Baldomir Zab would beat with ease and when he lost to him, I think it was obvious that he wasn't the same guy mentally because when he lost that fight, it was more Zab beating himself than Baldomir beating him.

But yeah I don't think Zab at any time beats the likes of Floyd, Tszyu, or Cotto even. Talent was there but he was too flawed to ever beat those guys.

judah could have beat cotto if not for the patented boricua bailout. power shots to the scrotum

I'd give a prime 140 lb Zab a very good chance of coldcocking the 140 lb Cotto, Cotto was chinny at that weight & Zab was always a good finisher

Zab is the classic front runner. He looks great and fights well until he feels a guy is getting the better of him, or he can't hurt him/KO him, then he folds mentally.

That's exactly what happened with Baldomir too, I don't think it had anything to do with stamina.

  27. puerto rock

Which I agree with. But I still insist that the 2000 version of Judah would eat Baldomir. He was just so much better.

LOK I'll eat your asshole alive

Zab would force Garcia to get a job flipping burgers in the Philippines
