Yeah, thats the dude. He was good. i must've spent hundreds, I had dozens and dozens of tapes. Was a big investment when you were 15, 16. Worse than worthless now. Youtube is probably mankinds best invention since the locomotive.

    yup

That and when a funny video becomes viral and you try to look it up and 9000 unfunny faggots have posted "parodies" or "tributes" or "my version" of the original... Every person who takes something existing and popular on youtube and does their own version of it that sucks balls should be executed

Sure they are, this is why the hall of fame classes have headliners and they are mostly about fame rather than accomplishment.

Michael Irvin was even a first ballot hall of famer yet his induction was one of the most covered of his class. Less famous people get in but often are overshadowed by the Gattis, the Namaths and etcetera.

It's even more annoying when it's copywritten material which is hard to find because they get taken down frequently like snl sketches. You do a search and find a "remake" of one. Ugh.

    Absolutely...

REED 1st Purchased VHS from the GREAT Curt Noltimier (Who SHOULD Be Inducted as Well), who, PRE-Youtube, Probably Had THE Largest Collection of Fights in the World, This Side of the Vault Jim Jacobs Donated to ESPN...From There, REED Tape Traded Quite a Bit...REED has Well Over 1,000 VHS Tapes, w/Anywhere from 3-6 Bouts on Each 1...Admittedly, REED Wasn't Fond of Youtube Initially, Because it HIT him that he'd Basically WASTED 10-15 Years of his Life in HOT Pursuit of as Many Fights as he Could Acquire...

w/Out Question, Youtube has Been an INVALUABLE Asset to Boxing Fans...These Days, just Start a Thread about a Fight you Haven't Seen & Guaranteed SOMEBODY will Post a Youtube Link to it, Eventually...

Fight Results and Photos are INSTANTANEOUS...Gone are the Days of Having to Wait 2-3 Months for RING Magazine to Print Results...Messageboards...Round by Round Threads (Brother ILLU's a Hall of Famer in REED's Book)...& Yes, the Current Wave of Boxing Journalists...

REED was Already a Lifelong Boxing Fan, but the Internet Took that Shit to the NEXT Level...Now, REED Couldn't Imagine Boxing w/Out the Internet...REED Isn't Sure HOW IBHOF Should Recognize the Internet's Impact on OUR Sport, but it's Time to Do SOMETHING in that Regard...

:atu: Curt Noltimier was such a crook.

I remember when i first began to follow boxing on the internet. Was around the time Quartey was fighting Delahoya. They had a pre fight show on direct TV and Crawford Grimsley was on there talking about how the internet would revolutionize boxing coverage as we know it.

Michael Irvin was one of the best receivers of the 1990s and a hugely important piece of a team that when three titles... He's an obvious hall of famer because he was a great player

Namath's selection is one of the most contentious in history but for a brief period, he was one fo the best QBs in football.

You can't compare guys like that to a scrub like Gatti

Gatti getting in the hall of fame is like Phil McConkey getting in the hall of fame

Hall of Fame selections are not based on "fame", if they were, Jim McMahon would be a first-ballot selection ... Every player-turned national broadcaster would be in... Brian Bosworth and Bo Jackson would be in there... Darryl Strawberry would be in the baseball hall of fame along with guys like Wally Joyner, Carl Everett, Roger Maris, etc., etc.

When people discuss whether or not a guy is a "hall of famer", they aren't debating "does my Granny know who he is?", they are debating "how good was this guy?"

    Noltimier Always Treated REED Fairly:dunno:...

Crawford Grimsley NAILED It...The Internet HAS Revolutionized Boxing Coverage...REED's 1st Boxing Internet Experience was a Lewis-Tua Round by Round Thread on House of Boxing...

If you had a Fightbeat hall of fame, who would be in it?

Taking into account contributions to the site over the years, fame/infamy, longevity, etc.

Some guys who have nothing to do with the site now would have to be in there like T. Rex Alto, Jake, Donnybrook

The guys who bought it out from Cupey, so Nobes, Punk, Rydell and TKO (all of them long-time vets as it is)

You'd have to put notable posters in there, too... past and present... good, bad, indifferent... REED, Anthony, Irish, S_D, Hut, Hanz and older days dudes like WannaBanga Man, Payton, Dubblechin, Petre... Famous, Infamous, etc.

REED can Only Go from PERSONAL Experience w/the Dude...1st Tape he Ever Got from Noltimier Contained Jones-Hopkins, Jones-Paz, Jones-Tate, Jones-Sosa & Some Other that REED Can't Recall...Quality was as GOOD as Could Be Expected, for a VHS Tape Sent from Minnesota or Wherever...It was $40-$50 bucks or Whatever, but To this Day, REED's NEVER Been More EXCITED about a Package Arriving on his Doorstep...
