would be a title in cottos fourth division and a helluva bargaining chip for a mayweather jr rematch at middleweight

    STUPID...STUPID...STUPID.....

10 million vs. Canelo...a winnable fight....

He won't make anywhere near that vs. Martinez...in a fight where he has 10% chance of winning....sooo fucking stupid...it's like the Trout fight...difference is Trout was not well know ..but he was much bigger, with some boxing ability and a huge reach advantage.....same situation w/ Martinez....PLUS he punches much..much harder than Trout...

    stupid...stupid....

-Cotto was small at 147...a midget at 154...at 160 he will look like a chubby mexican.
-Martinez will have 10-20 lbs advantage over him by fight time...
-Cotto punching power has decrease as he moved up in weight...
-Cotto doesn't have the legs or reach to outbox Martinez/He isn't koing him...so how is he going to win.
-Cotto might not be damage goods, but he has decline plenty...

Martinez look like SHIT vs. Murray...but was handling the much bigger/strong Chavez Jr. with ease...until that final round...

cotto was coming into fights at 157+ when he was at junior welterweight. martinez wont be much heavier than 165. i dont see a huge size edge for martinez

cotto is waaaay more skilled than that chump chavez jr. and martinez has clearly declined since then based on injuries

Martinez is the same size/maybe a bit bigger than Trout...and Cotto looked SMALL in the ring vs. Trout.

Canelo's the BETTER Fight for Cotto @ this Point...More WINNABLE, More of a LIMITED Opponent...More MONEY...Losing to Martinez DIMINISHES Cotto's Value for a Canelo Fight...

Martinez by brutal KO. This will not be even remotely competitive. Martinez will go for the kill early and will put Cotto in a coma. I agree with Illu: stupid, stupid choice of an opponent for Cotto.

there is also talk of martinez dropping weight for the fight. i think alvarez would also have a good chance of beating him at this point.

I'm surprised you guys are so sure of Martinez in this... He's looked like shit lately (of course, I've always thought he looked shitty, but he looks shittier)

I'd only favor him slightly at this point

I also think Cotto looking bad against Trout had a lot to do with the style mesh... He won't be facing the same issue against Martinez, who is looking more hittable than ever

Martinez has Looked Faded Against BIGGER, Somewhat FRESH Guys Though...He'd DWARF Cotto, who's Got TENDER Skin & ALOT of Miles of Wear & Tear on Him...STYLISTICALLY, Canelo's the Better Fight for Cotto, in REED's Opinion...

It wouldn't shock me if Cotto beat Martinez. Martinez looked shit against Murray, and Cotto is crafty and skilled.

I also believe Cotto is a live underdog against Martinez.
