Brother Hut Said it Best, "Rigondeaux's THERE, yet he ISN'T"...

Is Rigondeaux FLAT Footed in the Pocket, Primarily???...Absolutely Not...But is he RUNNING???...Absolutely NOT...Dude's Been DROPPED Enough Times to PROVE he'll Actually Invest MORE than he Should, on Occasion...He's Simply NOT a Runner, he's NOT Playing Tag or Hit & Run...

Rigondeaux's ALOT Closer to Latter Days Floyd, in Terms of POCKET "Boxing", than You're Giving him Credit For...

John Ruiz vs. Henry Akinwande would be heaven, compared to watching Rigon#2 fight again.....................against anybody.

Disloyal commie bastards, the lot of 'em. I hope they dream of Che Guevera t-shirts in their sleep.

I hope they receive disapproving letters in the mail, from the ghost of Teofilo Stevenson, every other Tuesday.

I hope they pop in films of Kid Gavilan every weekend, just so they can feel horrible about themselves.

I think a better comparison to Rigondeaux might be Whitaker rather than late-Floyd in that rather than stand 'in the pocket', his most standard ploy is to spin a guy like a matador, or even to preempt his attack altogether by changing the angle right as he's about to close in. By the end he'll still basically be 'there', and its not like he's moved a whole lot....but he's gone. I use the term 'escapology' allot in a derogatory sense to describe the various cheat moves that have crept into the modern game as tactics to avoid a fight - but I've never seen a sniff of that from Rigo. I know it aint high drama, in fact its basically totally negative, but if Nobes doesn't get enjoyment out of watching a guy that skilled, fight 100% legally, then he watches the sport through different eyes to me, like.

Yes, yes,yes.......he's such a little magician. I'm sure he could feint a rabbit out of a hat.........and then completely ignore it for the next 1 minute and 45 seconds.

My thoughts exactly. Like Hut, I generally love aggressive fighters and loath negative ones, but as a boxing fan I can't help but admire the incredible skill of Rigondeaux.

Noble, you have some serious, irrational hate going on with Gondo. Not only do I dislike negative fighters, but I generally dislike Cuban fighters too, I just don't like their styles, and don't find them pleasing to watch. Gondo is the exception because he's just THAT good, he is like a little boxing wizard. He's about 5'2 as well which makes his total domination of fighters even more impressive.

If it isn't cheating (including use of advanced prosthetic cheat devices like clown rings) its cool with me.

Might be sooner then you think. They'll probably award him posthumous honors, while he's still active in the ring.

Guillermo Rigondeaux's fights lack excitement, sometimes.

Has that ever been asked for or actually enforced before? (I'm not arguing for or against putting that into a contract, just wondering)

Apparently they were subjects for negotiation during Floyd-Canelo and Bradley-Marquez but i dont think they were enforced for either.

Yeah, I remember talk about fight night weigh-ins but I imagine it's very hard to enforce so the promotion(s) involved wouldn't want any part of it.
