    GREAT Night of Boxing...

ARGUABLY the "Upset of the Year" AND a Lower Level "Fight of the Year" Candidate, Rolled into 1...

REED was Accused of Having an AGENDA, for Labeling Maidana the 1st REAL TEST of Broner's Career, but in Hindsight, REED CAN'T Say he's COMPLETELY Surprised by What Transpired...He RECOGNIZED the UNANSWERED Questions Maidana had the POTENTIAL to Answer, in Regards to Broner, & Eventually, we SAW what we Saw...

Yes, REED Predicted Broner to STOP Maidana, but he Also Figured Broner Would Be Hurt/Dropped @ Some Point, when Faced w/THE 1st Chin Checking of his Career, Due SOLELY to the POWER of Marcos Maidana...Kudos to Marcos Maidana for Carpe Diem....

If Anything, REED was Surprised by the TOUGHNESS Broner Exhibited...VERY Early in the Fight, Broner was WOEFULLY Behind, Hurt AND Dropped...Nonetheless, he Bit Down, Gritted his Teeth & OUTMANNED Maidana for Several Rounds (He was MORE Latin than the Latin Fighter, Stylistically), UNTIL he Got Dropped Again...But Even w/that Broner FINISHED the Fight Strong...

For as Much HURT as Madana Administered on Broner (Which was Quite a Bit & Undoubtedly the MAJORITY of the Hurt Dished Out in this Bout), REED was IMPRESSED that he REMAINED in the Pocket Primarily & Never 1nce Fought "Negatively", as they Say...

Broner blatantly pulled an acting job and tried to get Maidana DQ'd then walked out like a spoiled bitch after the loss. That's not toughness. He lost me as a fan. Maidana was likely gonna stop him in the 8th had Broner not pulled that pussy move, but had Broner gone down swinging, then given an interview after like a man, it'd have been respectful.

Broner is a bitch. Sure he showed some toughness, but ultimately he is a bitch. Tried to get Maidana DQ'd until he realised the ref could see through his shitty little acting job, cheap shotted Maidana several times, and probably would have been stopped if he hadn't held like a frightened octopus.

Oh and like Xplosive said, ran off crying after the obvious decision was announced, just to add to his bitchness.

Granted Vargas walked out after Oscar stopped him, but that was a different situation entirely and I can't even compare Broner's toughness to Nando's.

So we're Gonna PRETEND Maidana Didn't HEADBUTT Broner in his Grill???...

The WAY Broner FOUGHT was Most Definitely ADMIRABLE...For Better or Worse, Broner NEVER Strayed from the Style that Got him to Where He Is/Was, Even AFTER Getting Chin Checked, Nose Bloodied & Drilled in the Mouth MORE Times than he Could've EVER Imagined...

If You're Gonna Label Broner a "Bitch" for Clearly MILKING the Headbutt, Go Ahead & Call Bernard Hopkins a "Bitch" as Well, for Trying to Get Calzaghe DQ'ed...Can't Have it BOTH Ways....

Broner is in his early 20s, Bernard was in his late 40s. Not comparable at all. If Broner had a sterling career for 20 years and then pulled that shit, it'd be different.

    People sure have short memories.

    - The Robert Allen No Contest

    - The Antwun Echols DQ

    - The Joe Calzaghe fight

    - The Roy Jones Rematch

    - The first Pascal fight

    - The first Chad Dawson fight

That's six times that immediately pop into my head when Hopkins tried to get out of a fight.

    Different now?

Broner and Hopkins are BOTH bitches, the difference is that Hopkins is also a far superior fighter.

It was close and Broner is still VERY young, so no one should be THAT dissapointed.. I'm sure we will see Broner knocked the fuck out plenty of times in the future.

Oh ya and when we see Broner counting his money next, it will be to make sure he has enough to pay his rent..

Do you think Broner can win a rematch, REED? Any obvious adjustments he can make?

First and Foremost, Broner's Gotta JAB More...

There was Literally NO RESISTANCE Preventing Maidana from Walking Right Up into his CHEST...NONE...Mix & Match the Jabs, Some Hard, Some Peppering...The Point is to Keep the Stick Out There, to Give Maidana SOMETHING ELSE to Think about & Make it SOMEWHAT Harder to Simply Walk Him Down...

Broner's Gotta Circle More Too...All Night Loooooooong, he Backed Up in a Straight Line & Found Himself Trapped Against the Ropes...

Broner's Gotta Forego the Cheap Imitation Shoulder Roll as Well...He Simply LACKS the Sense of Anticipation Required to Pull it Off...Broner's Shoulder Roll was as INEPT as Andre Berto's was, Last Night...

It's CONCEIVABLE Broner Could Win a RE, but we've Gotta See Where his HEAD is 1st...It's Plausible he's Like Hamed & RJ, Meaning 1 Dose of Mortality RUINS him...But Hypothetically, a BUSY Jab, Circling as Opposed to Backing Straight Up & More of an Investment in BODY Shots Could Reverse Broner's Fortunes...

Until the 2nd Knockdown, it Looked like he'd Figured Maidana Out, Honestly...

He was in BETTER Shape than Imagined Though...Maidana Actually Looked MORE Winded than Broner Ever Did, Which was Surprising...

What Broner Needs is FOCUS...Put the Rap Career on Hold & Be the Best FIGHTER he Can Be...

Agree with all. Instead of just trying to catch Maidana coming in he's got to interrupt Maidana while he's getting set to come in, i think in my mind. Be way more pro-active, lead more, move more. Gotta preempt the thing and lower Maidana's output.

You can interrupt a guy with feints, shimmies, and what have you. Doesn't have to even be energy consuming.

Less surprising when you saw the punch stats, mind. Broner was barely breaking double figures in a couple of those rounds (according to compubox anyway)

Maidana is an odd fish. He's so poor, technically, that he winds badly. He loads up on everything. looked like wanted to quit at one point, he was actually trying to hold onto Broners legs before the 2nd knockdown.

Should be said that Hopkins did his bitching in his mid 40s not mid 20s. 'Gaming' becomes a bit more permissible when you're way outside your prime.

I don't think Broner clearly won a round, so I don't see how at any point he had Maidana figured out. He got dominated.

Agreed. I was disappointed with Nard's bitchness as I've always been a fan, but it's not even comparable to an undefeated guy in his early 20's, in his first big test.
