No. The last 4 were when he was well past his prime, in his mid-late 40s. Echols was never DQ'd against him, Hopkins was in fact offered the DQ after he dislocated his shoulder, and he said no, went out and KO'd him in the next round instead. Who has a short memory? Your only legitimate argument might be the Allen fight, and Hopkins immediately rematched him and stopped him in the rematch.

I remember Larry Merchant's comment during that Echols fight.. "Bernard Hopkins .. is .. a hard man." High praise coming from a bloodthirsty commentator like Larry.

No way was it even after 7, brother REED. 5-2+the KD at that point! I doubt even Malinaggi's side piece could've had Broner less than 2 behind.

agREED it was FOTY contender though, it was a 5 star scrap

I agree with that although it has been more flash than finesse also in my opinion. TO an extent Broner was exposed last night in terms of how good a boxer he is. I was shocked that he couldn't land at will on Maidana. Maidana is very dangerous but there to be hit. Devon Alexander did a number on him. If you put all in perspective it doesn't look very good for Broner.

He showed a good chin though. He went down yeah but he wasn't hurt that badly and he showed that he has good durability. The acting was a bit bad but given that it was the first time he was really in trouble it's understandable, I've seen worse. The bigger story is that he lost a decision to Maidana, when everybody thought Maidana's only chance is a KO but he couldn't even outbox him convincingly.

I don't get the fight of the year stuff though... both weren't landing enough for that. Bradley-Provo SHITS on this fight it isn't even close and there were others who were definitely better.

I enjoyed Maidana-Broner more, personally. Bradley has a really ugly style

Agreed. Good fight and all but not fight of the year material. Too one sided and I don't think Broner had Maidana in SERIOUS trouble at any stage of the fight.

Yeah I also enjoyed it more that Broner got fucked up but that hasn't anything to do with fight of the year. If you think Bradley Provo has less exciting two way action than you are on crack... I also don't like Bradley's style, but that fight he didn't fight like this at all.

Maybe I am on crack. You'd feel pretty bad for making light of it, then.

    sorry a bit harsh...

Hell, Groves-Froch was more entertaining imo. Lebedev-Jones defintely, Alvarado-Rios also, Marquez-Segura, even Lopez-Maidana was better. I also think Mathysse-Garcia was better.

Maidana-Broner these guys didn't hit each other hard in the face often enough for my taste.

Before the fight Maidana was not highly regarded and was been written off by many so-called boxing experts. To lose this way to this 'unheralded-has-been' says more about Broner's overrated status than of Maidana's pedigree.

Bradley-Provo was more competitive, and more violent/dramatic. It was a fight that could have gone either way, and Braddles got saved by the bell.

    Broner-Maidana was one sided.

Kinda the poor man's version, because Provo is a lot better than Chino, and turns out Braddles is a lot better than Ant Brain.

I most enjoyed the moments when Broner was getting punched in the face.

It was especially fun watching him get smashed in the face and then seeing the "About Billions" written on his trunks

I think AT BEST Broner won 3 rounds, which is how one judge and Hut Hut scored it, 9-3. I saw 3 rounds you could give to Broner, emphasis on the could. I don't think he won a round clearly. Some of them were pretty even, but was there even one emphatic Broner round in the whole fight? Maybe round 12, that's about it.

It was an exciting fight because it was an upset, there was good action, and Broner hung in there till the end, but it wasn't close in the slightest.

    Definitely.

And no offense to my man REED, but if he thinks there is any argument whatsoever that the fight was even after 7, he is FAR more biased towards Broner than I am against Broner.

Maidana after blitzing the first 2 rounds...cool off in round 3(close round)....and 4&5 were Broner rounds...
