Yeah, and I'm sure someone could make a nice video of Bronner beating up bums too. The competition on that video is about the same level as the guys Bronner beat if not worse. For years the only name guys Hamed usually fought were older guys or younger guys. He was probably Andre Berto's career mentor. Once Hamed came to the US and tried that same silly bouncing around shit, Kevin Kelly put him on his ass twice. That kind of shit can only work on bums and I can't believe Hamed got to be so hyped from his early victories, without anyone factoring in the level of competiton he was fighting. I'm not saying Hamed was a bum, he beat some good fighters, but pretty much all that shit he did before he came to the states was overrated. Say what you want about Bronner, but he wasn't looking to pad his record and avoid anyone the way Hamed did to twice get out of fighting JMM. Bronner actually wanted to achieve success by trying to prove he was the best, even if it meant finding out he wasn't. Also I do think Bronner is a talented fighter, but he obviously isn't as talented as Hamed was. I think Bronner is a typical guy who tries to beat everyone with his superior talent, but sometimes the talent of power can undo all that defensive/handspeed talent.
I hated Hamed, but the guy was a tall task for most featherweights A lot of emotional stuff factoring into dudes' opinions on the matter He might very well have knocked out a hothead moron like Morales, who ALWAYS fought dumber when he was mad... But Morales is a great fighter, so everybody just says "yeah, he would have killed Hamed!" mainly because they can't stomach the idea of Hamed winning it... I can't either, frankly, but the possibility is very real, nonetheless
no doubt... Barrera fought a beautiful tactical fight, he was amazing and maybe he still beats the sharper Hamed. I certainly wouldn't discount it... But the fact remains, Hamed was a better fighter earlier than later
I used to hate Hamed because of the hype job, but honestly boxing needs desperately someone like Hamed that electrified the atmosphere and always put an entertaining show. I wish he didn't unofficially retired. He could have achieved more after the Barrera upset.
Well there was Marquez, who he shamelessly ducked, as he knew he'd get beaten easily, just like he knew it with Barrera.
"Too much heart" is the dumbest reason for someone "beating the dogshit out of" someone that I've ever encountered He's got every chance of walking into some monster shots and stopped... Guy was a fucking imbecile when he got riled up and Hamed always riled guys up Barrera fought BETTER when angry, Morales never did Hamed's unorthodoxy, left-handedness, KO power in either hand, his personality... Every single bit of it adds up to either a very difficult victory for Morales or a flat-out defeat for him
Was that before or after Marquez shot himself in the foot by losing to Freddie Norwood in one of the worst fights in history? Hamed knew he'd lose to Barrera? Why'd he take the fight then?
Everybody weeps for poor Juan Manuel getting ducked by Hamed and they conveniently ignore that the Norwood fight was a huge opportunity for him to make a statement that couldn't be ignored... Instead, he engaged in a fencing match and lost on HBO
Because HBO effectively forced him to. He didn't want the fight. He was shitting himself before the fight, you could see the fear in his eyes, he was fucking around with gloves, and too nervous to even do his trademark ring flip. Meanwhile Barrera was confident as a mofo, and schooled him.
Morales is arguably the only guy to beat a prime Pacquiao clearly, 8 - 4. A great win over a fighter 100 times better than Hamed.
