Could never get past the lyrics, tbh. Sound like they were written by a 15 year after their first school disco. Not saying they're pish or anything, just don't really light me up, no

My nan had this Duke Ellington/Louis Armstrong collaboration on vinyl, this was always my favourite number:

It's like some weird Hybrid of Curtis Mayfield and Don 'No Soul' Simmons.

I like the riff in the verses, the hook gets annoying after a while though

Have you stopped smoking or something? You're becoming unsettlingly cogent.

Never a huge Curtis Mayfield fan, but this one (from the same album TFK linked for "If There's a Hell Below") is a stone cold classic (ruined by Kanye)

I heard "My Girl" on the radio just now, it really is one of those perfect, timeless songs. It couldn't be improved in any way.

Motown was pretty much the apex of chart pop

    Some Motown I love, some I don't

Can't say I was ever big on The Temptations, to be honest

My favorite motown stuff is the Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell duets, Stevie Wonder's stuff, Smokey, Martha & The Vendellas...

The Temps and especially the Supremes are my least favorite... Diana Ross was a weak, weak singer and her mewling kitty voice ruins the Supremes for me

Happy Birthday to my boy Kermit Ruffins. I caught his show at the Blue Nile when I was in New Orleans a few months ago. It was a damn good show.

It's the kind of Zzzzzzz "jamming" that would have Hut throwing chairs at the stereo if the guys making the music had bellbottoms, long hair and were called The Pink Floyd... What the fuck did I just listen to? I listened to a 2000s answer to large swaths of shite like "Ummagumma"

Same shit... repetitive looping rendered as such due to the limitations of the musicians playing it

Why didn't Pink Floyd "jam" things more varied or complex than "Echoes"? Because Roger Waters, Rick Wright and Nick Mason couldn't play well enough to do that.

How is this not "meandering"? Because there is a limit to how far out the musicians are capable of travelling?

I have no problem with anyone liking this music, but I fail to see how you can gush over this and guffaw at some crap like "Careful With That Axe, Eugene"

    Are you MAD??

The Syd Barrett Floyd played the same shit! The difference is that he was a third-rate guitarist and Dave Gilmour wasn't!
