I used to look forward to Johnny Depp movies, now I say to myself "Fuck you, you're not gonna get me again!" :nono:

 

Absolutely. I was pleasantly surprised by Dark Shadows but he has become a caricature. The Jack Sparrow character is overrated.

 

What do you mean? He had one big flop (The Lone Ranger), but he will rebound with another Pirates movie and another Alice in Wonderland. Robert Downey Jr has Ironman and to a lesser degree Sherlock Holmes. Besides those two franchises his other films have lost money too.

 

Wait. Did you mean you were pleasantly surprised by how bad it was, or how good? And no, the Jack Sparrow character is not overrated, just being overexposed. Had they not done 5 or 6 films and trying to get their money's worth then people wouldn't be bitching about the character being overrated. I think it's a brilliant character who compares very favorably with Downey's portrayal of Tony Stark. Now once they punch out 5 or 6 Iron Man movies people will be saying that same overrated character crap about Stark, that you're saying about Jack Sparrow because people fail to put things into perspective.

By the way, Dark Shadows was a steaming pile of shit I totally regret watching. I'll bet the Lone Ranger was better than that pile of dung.

 

I think the last Depp movie I thought was good was Secret Window. So he's basically been making crap for last 10 years.

 

I liked all of the Pirates movies except the last one. I won't sit through them again but I did like them. I think Depp is a good actor but he's too character portrayed IMO and that causes me to skip a lot of the crap he's done like Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeny Todd, The Imaginarium, Finding Neverland, I even skipped Public Enemies and never did watch Edward Scissorhands. I'm obviously not a Depp fan but I think the Jack Sparrow character is his defining and most brilliant role I've seen out of him.
