Agreed. That's what me, you and several other Pacquiao admirers have said all along. Whatever you think of Pacquiao, the opponents, the roid accusations - a former flyweight slapping welterweights around like they are heavybags is absolutely unique, and pretty fucking impressive.
mayweather jr.'s legacy will be as one of the greatest lightweights of all time. and it has already been sealed.
Greatest junior lightweight, one of the greatest lightweights, and maybe one of the greatest junior welters, but just "very good" at welter. Hearns, Leonard, & Duran would all beat him at 147. Of course, all 3 of those guys would stop Pac in one-sided fashion. Still, overall, one of the greatest fighters of all time.
He is a pretty amazing fighter at any weight - but you guys are horrendously overrating his greatness at lightweight. He fought 3 guys there, and arguably lost to one of them. I think even a prime, lightweight Oscar would have beaten him.
agREED... Some of Floyd's LEAST Impressive Performances were @ 135...When You Look @ It, Floyd Really Only Had 1 GOOD Lightweight Performance, vs. N'Dou... Arguably THE GREATEST 130 lb'der EVER, Who Had HUGE Levels of Success Up to 154...That's Floyd's Legacy... REED:hammert:
I think he IS the greatest ever at 130, personally. Like Mex said, amazing fighter at any weight but that's where he really had everything.
all his fights at super featherweight are in fact part of his lightweight accomplishments in the grand historical scheme.
What he did at 130 could easily tie in with what he did at 135... At lightweight, the only guys that I think would beat him are Duran, Chavez, Whitaker, and DeJesus would be even money. Oscar at lightweight was still too green to deal with PBF. At 147 is his best shot at beating Mayweather.
REED Prefers Watching Older Floyd to 135, 140 & YOUNGER 147 Floyd, but THE BEST He EVER Was, was @ 130, in REED's Opinion... REED:hammert:
Has anyone ever seen that HBO movie "Conspiracy".....?? The argument scene in that movie {basically a large part of the movie} reminds me a lot of this discourse.
But they WEREN'T, Neil...You CAN'T Give Floyd "Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda" PRAISE...What Did he ACTUALLY DO & in WHAT Weight Classes???...That's What Matters... REED:hammert:
Agreed. It's a bizarre statement. They are seperate weightclasses. It's almost like saying Duran is a great 140 pounder, or Hopkins a great super middleweight.
i can do whatever i please. it is my opinion. and that opinion is that he is one of the greatest lightweights i ever saw and could beat any lightweight ever
:: El Bizarro strikes again. Personally, I think Marciano might be the greatest cruiserweight of all time.
Really? Wanna bet that in 20 years, way before actually, Floyd, pac, and many many others will be broke, the IRS having had eagle eyes for any earned income which is quite obvious when a professional athlete is involved....There is a reason why most professional basketball players, who earn quite a bit as professional athletes, wind up broke after five years departed from the NBA. You buy the hype that Floyd is above all that....which is at least as silly as people thinking they can materially ffect the outcome of a Floyd decision. Ask my buddy King, is he still under a bridge in Vegas? about what happens when with the IRS and gambling...when you lose you are on your own but when you win? you gots a friennn in unka Sam baby! and considering all the luxury taxes and other taxes Floyd pays at the end of the day, how much do you think Floyd holds on to? Talk about deluded!
Lol great post Brother Reed! Its true about TMT and the other truth is that all these people think they can get into boxing promotions....How does that work for fitty cents? among others? Its a hard game to endure in. Golden Boy is an exception and prolly because it was in the right place at the right time....Lord knows that King never would give any power to any organization willingly at any time....He just was so incredibly greedy and Arum? people see what this cocksucker does to cock block fights and STILL can't get him thrown out. My point is that the luster Floyd has came when he fought De La Hoya. Period. Before that he was not even a good draw. His promotional activities are tied to Golden Boy....When his career is over I doubt he will make it as a promoter.
Like they say, people like Floyd will never really be destitute. Even when they don't have any money left, there will always be somebody around to pay the bills or provide a roof over his head. In 20 years when Floyd ends up living in the remnants of the Hartford Civic Center (I'll spare you the details, how this happens), I'll let Floyd come and live in my basement whenever he wants. All I ask is that he drains the de-humidifier bucket every 2-3 days, and keeps the crawlspace under the 2nd bathroom somewhat free of poop and pee.
