Agreed, he looked as good as ever previous to Weidman, I even remember thinking "I wonder when Andy is going to start looking his age" being that he was 36/37.

 

So when Anderson was 35 and old.

Also he's already had double knee surgery...been there done that.

He's been fighting since the 90s...he has a ton of wear and tear.

 

First of all Randy was using drugs and he had not much fighting wear and tear since he started late.

His prime was when he was 40.


Hopkins is past his peak by about a dozen years. He just beat a lot of guys who weren't very good with technical skills.

 

He did when he was tagged hard repeatedly by Maia and Sonnen.

 

He beat Trinidad when he was 36..

 

He was actually only 36 when he beat Tito, and probably in his prime around then. Obviously he was very capable well into his 40's though, he aged brilliantly.

 

He also lost to Jermain Taylor....

 

He did, but I think that was just a kind of fluke matchup. Taylor's weird, jittery style just worked very well against Hopkins for some reason.

 

Hopkins never lost to anyone as poor as Taylor in his prime. I don't even think he had any fights that were disputed. And he had clearly aged and his workrate clearly slowed.


Anderson's legs arent what they used to be, his workrate has lessened he isn't as hungry and his chin has shown signs of slipping even before the KO.

 

Yep, it was just a freak matchup, Hopkins is 10 times the fighter Taylor is.

 

Taylor would have troubled any version of Nard, Calzaghe even more so.

 

Except that was the very end of his prime and 36 is in the middle range not later range.

Anderson is already 38 and will be 39 in a few months.
