They fought two complete rounds in total. The first win was more convincing than this one.

 

I always give Ronda a pass on being annoying. She was raised to have a perpetual chip on her shoulder and she is obviously still immature.

But the chick can fight. It might be hard to believe, but in the place I watched the fight last night, Tate-Rousey II was a bigger draw than Silva-Weidman II.

 

Rousey is THE most annoying fighter in the UFC currently. I hope that kind of hot Venezuelan TUF girl knocks her ass out.

 

If Rousey loses her arrogance, she won't be as good of a fighter.

It's like how Tyson's aura used to beat fighters before the fight even started back in the day, Rousey goes into her fights knowing she's gonna win, and she spends every second of her fights working to finish them.

I've met plenty of people with tough upbringings that are very nice and chilled out, and I've also met people raised nicely and normally, who are total chodes.

Nature over nurture - we are all born with a certain set of characteristics that defines our character and personality, and Rousey is a born cunt.

 

Few kids have mothers that are diabolical judo champions and fathers that commit suicide.

But as TFK said, that chip on her shoulder is her edge. You can tell by her personality that she is one of those fighters that doesn't have an ounce of "quit".

By the way, it was missed by most last night, but a Rousey straight right hand in the 3rd round essentially ended the fight. It didn't drop Tate or knock her down but it knocked the last bit of fight out of her. The armbar after that was almost just ceremonial.

 

Based on the boo's last night and some of the comments here, Ronda apparently has that "bad guy" appeal now.

Now even more people will tune in hoping to see her lose.

The UFC has another gold mine. Say what you want about Dana White but he pulled the trigger on women's MMA at the perfect time.

 

Judo champion aside, I have a friend from just as harsh an upbringing, including a suicidal parent, neglected growing up etc - and they are largely very nice, without much of a "chip" at all.

There's plenty of examples of people who have had a tough time of it, yet aren't angsty little cunts like Rousey. Look at Cormier for example. There's also plenty of people around with nice upbringings who are just born chodes.

I've also known several sets of brothers, who despite having an identical upbringing, are completely different. Rousey's upbringing is a significant part of who she is, but more as a fighter IMO. Her personality/character is just who she is, and who she would have been regardless of upbringing.

 

You're completely missing the point. I'm not talking about her being the byproduct of a certain environment or her being adversely affected by her upbringing.

She was raised by her mother to specifically have that chip on her shoulder. It wasn't an accident or the result of poor nurturing, but the intended result of her mother.

Add to it that the fact she also fought around the world in a sport that American woman never succeeded in, and you have zero similar cases for comparison.

 

No I'm not - I think you're completely missing my point tbh, which is simply that you are who you are.

Her upbringing no doubt helped, but if she'd been raised normally - she'd still be a twat, it's just who she is. Likewise if some gentle, carefree soul was raised by someone like Rousey's mum to have a chip on her shoulder etc, she still wouldn't, as she just wouldn't really have the inate capability to be such an uptight chode.

 

Just like regardless of upbringing, some people are born fighters and others aren't. Some fighters come from harsh, turbulent upbringings but are total pussies (Vicious Victor), and some come from nice, normal upbringings but are tough as nails (Gay Marquez). Because that's who they are, and no amount of nurture is going to change that.

There is the same level of correlation as Rousey's character being defined by nurture.

 

I think you would have to take like...entry level college psychology to understand why it is.

 

One thing lost in all of this is, even after losing, Tate's stock has risen. Not just because of her TUF exposure, but because she gave Rousey her toughest fight to date. So now the women's division has another 'name' it desperately needs. I don't think Tate gets anywhere near a title shot as long as Rousey is champ, but I can see her having co-main event status.

No it isn't. Predisposition to aggression and anger does not equate to how an individual reacts in social situations.

There are numerous psychological factors involved in the latter and from our basic understanding of human psychology we know that these reactions are extremely variable and easily manipulated.
