    12 rounds? At 140 and 147?

I reckon Micky can take him at 147 and possibly at 140 too.

First thought is Taylor at 140 and Cotto at 147.

Can Cotto deal with the speed at 140? Can he mimic Chavez enough to break up Meldrick? Is Cotto anywhere near as hard a man as Chavez?

Taylor at 140... Way too fast, he'd paint him up

At 147, Taylor is probably too fragile and small

Yeah this is a pretty easy one.

    Mel at 140.

    Miggy at 147.

Overall though, prime Taylor was a more special fighter than Miggy ever was.

I can actually see the Taylor that beat Davis holding on to victory over the Cotto that beat a prime Quintana

REED Isn't Sure Why Some of Ya'll are Soooo Certain Cotto Beats Meldrick @ 147...They were BOTH Undersized @ the Weight...Cotto ACCOMPLISHED More, but Meldrick was the BETTER Fighter, if Only Slightly...He'd beat Cotto @ Either Weight...

I think Mel has a shot at Welter, but Cotto's gonna outweigh him by 10 pounds easy

cotto was 160lbs in the ring when he was jr welter. i think he has a better chance to win at that weight

I don't give a shit what he weighed, Cotto is NOT beating the Taylor from the and McGirt and Chavez fights.

Cotto might have weighed a lot at 140, but so what? He was kind of weak at the weight, he was at his most fragile at 140.

I feel like whether the fight happens before or after Taylor was nearly beaten to death by Chavez is a bigger issue than than the weight

Meldrick Taylor is 1 of the BETTER Offensive Fighters of All Times, in Addition to being Amongst THE Most Athletic Fighters of All Times...He Also had the HEART & SPIRIT You'd Expect from a Philly Fighter...Taylor Would Get the BETTER of Cotto in Exchanges & Tear Away @ his Skin...It'd Be Similar to EARLY DOORS Versions of Cotto vs. Zab, Cotto vs. Corley or Cotto vs. Clottey, Only WORSE (for Miguel)...REED Doesn't Think Cotto Could SUSTAIN All that Chavez Could, in the Name of BEATING Taylor...Not to Mention, Cotto has Never FINISHED Fights All that Strongly...Give REED Meldrick Taylor @ EITHER Weight...Not in a Blowout or Anything, but Fairly Convincingly...

Indeed. Cotto could have 10 extra pounds on the pre-Chavez Taylor, and I don't think it'd think matter. He'd get soundly outclassed.

  18. whiskey

Yes but i don't think Taylor fought at welter until after that beating so it's kind of the same thing.

Taylor's prime lasted what as much as a flame on a matchstick. Regardless of who would have won, Cotto will retire with a better resume.

Both at their best, Taylor was far better

Taylor had one of the best short primes of the late 80's. I'd say that Nunn in his BRIEF prime was better than Taylor, but that's about it. I would list Tyson as well, but Mike's peak lasted longer than Nunn and Taylor's.

  26. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Tyson was the best of the three, for sure

I think Taylor and Nunn is a push

The Night Toney KO'ed Nunn, Nunn was Considered THE Best Fighter in the World, by MORE than a Few...REED Isn't Sure Meldrick was EVER Thought of THAT Highly....

Yeah, TALENT WISE, Nunn had the complete package.

A 6'2 southpaw with handspeed, legit power in his left hand, great defensive reflexes, footwork, great jab, solid chin, very good overall technical skills. Overall, he was a more dynamic talent than Taylor.

  29. cdogg187

    cdogg187 GLADYS

Sure, but I don't think of that as evidence of anything

Shane Mosely was once thought of by many in those same terms and I never thought it was true at all

Regardless of perceptions, I'd rate Taylor and Nunn pretty evenly

  30. Dog Jones

Taylor was being discussed in the same vein as P4P superstar James Page as he racked up the rounds against Chavez's dad
