Leonard gets him out of there at some point, he's got a big edge in power and durability Taylor was a great Junior Welter but he was merely a pretty good Welterweight
I think what's even MORE important than that, is the fact that he doesn't have any pop to deter Ray with. That, AND the handspeed edge that Taylor always had over guys goes out the window against Leonard. It really is a mismatch. A better, more competitive/debatable matchup is Taylor vs Mosley at 147.

I don't think were. Taylor had fast as FUCK hands, don't get me wrong. However, when he put full body weight behind his combos, I think they lost a tiny bit of speed. Leonard could throw blindingly fast combos with FULL FORCE behind them (see the Price fight). I honestly think that overall Leonard had faster hands than Taylor. I think Jones, and Camacho had the two fastest hands of all time. After them, it's Leonard and Taylor.
Shane beats Taylor. Shane's a bit taller and has a five or six inch reach advantage. Taylor definitely has the better handspeed but his downfall is his liking to fight a bit too much. He'd stand in and trade and I think Shane would prove to be too stronger for Taylor. Plus Shane had a solid chin and I don't see Taylor landing anything to greatly discourage him. Definitely an all-action fight but one I think Shane wins decisively.

True but I dont think he covered distance with punches particularly quickly at all. If he was outside coming in his speed was pretty unspectacular which you saw against McGirt in the number of times he fell short. I agree if his feet were set and his target was stationary he could string flurries off very quickly but for practical purposes he wasn't hugely 'boxing fast' in the way RJJ or Leonard were. (With Double L gone I feel a responsibility to help fill the 'pseudo keen observations' vacuum ::)
I agree with Hut. Leonard and Jones had more OVERALL speed than Taylor. I dunno why some are getting offended by that. No ones saying Taylor's handspeed wasn't blazing fast. But for Christ sake, take a look at the combo Leonard stretched Dave Green with. Saying that Taylor had lesser handspeed than Leonard isn't outrageous at all. I'll mainly focus on Leonard in this debate, since I think we basically ALL agree Roy had the fastest hands ever.
