We all know that if Martinez lands the sort of left hand he did against Williams that he could KO Norris but what are the chances of him doing that?
"Martinez is the quickest junior middleweight I've ever seen"- Jim Lampley during the Williams-Martinez 1 telecast. ::
Norris was Frequently Tooooooooooooo COMBATIVE for his Own Good & ANYONE Short of Cory Spinks Had a "Puncher's Chance" Against Him...Including Sergio Martinez...
Martinez beat him. Norris is very talented, but he lacked the intangibles to beat a very good fighter like Martinez. On the other hand, Sergio is a born winner who fights harder when he finds himself in trouble.
He lacked the intangibles? Like what? Martinez is the most overrated fighter I've ever seen... He never beat a guy that could shine Norris's shoes
The thing about Sergio is that his game is speed, reflexes, athleticism.. He usually has the advantage in those categories over all of his opponents.. No such luck against Norris who is faster, more athletic, and has better skills.. I definitely give Martinez a good chance to catch him with a big punch, but no way is outboxing Terry.
Especially the younger, fresher Norris that was beating guys like Drayton, Mugabi and SRL. Martinez 's stamina would be an issue as well. Hard to land a Hail Mary if you've been eating right hands all night. Even the post-Simon Brown Norris was still a damned dangerous guy for Martinez.
Yeah I think people base Sergio's power from his KO over Williams which was devastating. But I think Terry would hve brutally beaten PW.
Yup... It was a great KO and he never did anything like it at any other time in his career... It'd be like calling Michael Nunn a great puncher off of Kalambay
Because Martinez has power in his left hand, and is fast from weird angles, I have to give him a chance. But I favor Norris to ultimately kick his ass.
