Is Back To The Future the best trilogy of all time?

I'm a little bit baffled why this series is held in such high regard myself.

I mean they didn't suck, but if everybody else didn't constantly bring them up, I'd probably forget they even existed.

 

No. THE trilogy has always being STAR WARS...before those prequels ruined everything. LOTR is the second closest one.

The greatest film trilogy of all time is the Godfather. Hands down.

The first two films are arguably both in the top ten films ever made. The third one is considered "shitty", but only when compared to the original masterpieces. In reality, Godfather III is a good film, even a very good film. It just isn't the original two (almost entirely because of Sophia Coppola, who had no business in front of a camera)

What other trilogy can boast of a pair of films like the first two in The Godfather?

I think The Godfather movies, watching them now, feels like too much of a 'sacred cow', IMO.

It's the same with the Star Wars movies - I lived for those....but when I was a kid.

The Empire Strikes Back is considered by all critics as THE best sequel ever. The Third one, Return of the Jedi, wasn't as great as Empire, but shits on anything else done since it was released. It's a rare trilogy where there isn't any decline in quality from 1st to 3rd. That's why I put it as the best. There are plenty of mob and science fiction/fantasy movies but only one Back To The Future. Very original story.

I know that I saw the 2nd and 3rd back to the future years ago, I just don't remember much about them. I do remember ZZ Top had a cameo in one of them.

If they were that good of movies, I'm sure I would've wanted to see them more than once, or would at least remember something about them.

Never saw any of the Godfather movies. The whole 'mafia' thing bores me to tears. And the last thing I'd ever want to do is waste a few hours of my life watching movies full of Italians.

There's 16 years between the 2nd and 3rd. It doesn't hang together as a trilogy like B2TF or Star Wars or Indiana Jones.
