Is Back To The Future the best trilogy of all time?

How do people go through life without having read the LOTR books? Those are pretty much required reading.

I used to read the trilogy every few years when I was younger (yeah...I'm the type who re-reads books I like), but I haven't read them in probably 10 years or so. Maybe it's time to dust them off again.

I disagree on the Third Film... It is shit compared to its predecessors, but it is still a considerable film on its own. It is bogged down by by the terrible miscasting of Coppola's daughter and it's turgid length, but it has some outstanding scenes and performances

Unlike STAR WARS which all three films are classics.

 

All three Star Wars films put together aren't as good as either of the first two Godfathers

 

I agree that the Godfather trilogy is the best trilogy in history. The first two parts are both top 5 greatest movies of all time. On IMDB the Godfather is rated #2 and Godfather II is rated #3. Shawshank Redemption takes the #1 spot. Personally I think both Godfather movies were better.

It is impossible imo to think of three movies that are better than the first two Godfather movies.

Are you lunatics? Return of the Jedi shits on The Godfather Part Three. Yes, the two first Godfather films are great...just like the first two STAR WARS films, but to call the Godfather trilogy better than the Star Wars trilogy is just, well, dumb considering how shitty GF Part 3 is. Many Godfather fans wish it was never made! That tells you how bad it is!

I don't agree on it being better, but Heat was an excellent movie. Deniro and Pacino was for a lot of people a "Duel".

 

Like I said before: the first two Star Wars films are great movie classics. The third one, even to a lesser degree if compared with the first two, is STILL a classic that resonates in our culture (see all those Leia slave outfits in comicbook conventions, ewoks, the emperor, etc). Now ask yourself: how much ANYONE remembers the Godfather Part III except for the HUGE letdown feeling and disappointment? Like I said, Return of The Jedi is an iconic film classic that SHITS massively on the so-so forgettable Godfather Part III which is on Superman III level as a monumental failure as a third act.

Listen, The Godfather films rank among the greatest ever made, ever conceived, ever performed, edited, photographed, scored, etc. etc.... They are works of art (the first two) that will stand the test of time

The Star Wars films rank among the most popular ever but to claim they are superior works of art to either of the first two Godfather films would only work if you were TEN FUCKING YEARS OLD
