btw, i thought henderson clearly won. he won rounds 2 and 3 for sure and i didn't think the 5th was all that close. benson clearly did more. thomson didn't do a lot besides takedowns and locking his legs.
I re-watched it today and leaned toward Hendo in the 5th, which was the deciding round on my card. Nevertheless, neither guy did anything to generate interest in seeing them in against Pettis. The fight last night almost locked Gilbert Melendez in as the next in line for Pettis as it doesn't seem like TJ Grant will ever be healthy enough.
That was a weird fight, though very entertaining in spots. I don't have a problem with Henderson winning, though I can see why some would score it for Thompson.
not sure who's getting the next shot. not sure what's going on w/ grant, so i think melendez getting the next crack at it would be fair. unless pettis continues to get sidelined and maybe it's melendez vs. henderson rematch for an interim belt or a mandatory spot. dont really care to see pettis beat henderson again though.
Yeah he praises Jesus a lot so people don't like him. The only fight I actually thought he lost was the second Edgar fight. I have no idea why people were acting like this was a robbery of the year candidate. Henderson outlanded Thomson like 110 to 40 and 47 to 20 in "significant strikes" People mysteriously overrated back control and dismissing Benson clearly out striking him as "point kickboxing".
even the edgar rematch, edgar circled and threw punches and in spurts that didn't land. henderson was more aggressive, although he didn't land much either. i was glad edgar didn't get the decision. hardly a robbery. the melendez fight was close too.
By the way, the FOX card certainly lived up to the mediocrity it promised on paper. The Cerrone KO kick was fun but it was sandwiched between 2 excruciatingly boring fights.
I was looking forward to watching little Pettis shine against Bruce Leeroy, but Caceres earned a nice win. Sergio is already an excellent fighter, he just needs some man strength. Everything is fast, just not overly powerful.
