Just for shits and gigs. Would have been fun to watch the alchy batter the living shit outta the Ginger.
Canelo's Superior Speed, Movement & Some Flurries Would Pocket a Couple Rounds for him, Giving the IMPRESSION the Fight is Close, but Little By Little, Pavlik Would Be Wearing Canelo Down... After 5-6 Rounds of Pavlik in CONSTANT Pursuit, Canelo's Chronic LACK of Stamina Would Be his Undoing...He'd Look for the Ropes to REST, but Pavlik Wouldn't Allow it...By the 8th-9th, Canelo Would Be Sufficiently TENDERIZED & Ready to Be Stopped... Pavlik in 10 Rounds or LESS... REED:shadow:
Brah REED, I don't even know how well Canelo does early, considering he's midget with short arms. Pavlik's jab would be busting him up early and often.
REED Thinks Canelo Would MOVE Early...Flurry & Move, Which he's Capable of...But it'd WEAR him Down...Regardless, Pavlik BEATS him 10 Out of 10 & by KO 8 Out of 10...
Seriously, prime Pavvles would walk him down and beat the shit out of him. Canelo is nowhere near elusive, slick, or good enough to win. Nor big enough.
i think Pavlik was pretty crap. He's not very fast, he telegraphs, he follows you around, he's easy to counter. Alvarez aint all that but if he can take the odd hard shot the style mesh heavily favour him here.
Canelo's Lack of STAMINA is his Undoing in this Matchup, Brother Hut...Say what You Will about Pavlik, but his Constant Pressure, Jab, Workrate & 2-Fisted Power MADE Guys Work...Opponents were CONSTANTLY Moving &/or THROWING More Punches than they were Accustomed To...Pavlik FORCED an Uptempo Fight, a Tempo Canelo Has Yet to Illustrate he Can Sustain, for 12 Rounds...Canelo's an ECONOMICAL Puncher who CAN Move, but Doesn't Like To, Necessarily...Pavlik's All WRONG for Him, Bro...
Actually, you're underrating the HELL outta Pavlik. In his brief two year prime, 06-07, he was a very good fighter. FAR more complete offensively than Crapnelo. Crapnelo is more flashy, which gives off the false impression that he's somehow more skilled than Kelly. He isn't. Now, most of the elite middles in history would thrash the living shit outta Pavlik, but Crapnelo? The Ginger is TAILOR MADE for a prime Pavlik.
Crapnelo wouldn't beat a prime Taylor, and he most likely wouldn't have beat Edison Miranda either. Whereas, Kelly would beat the living shit outta everyone on Crapnelo's win list.
I know I don't like Ginge much and like to talk shit for fun, but I honestly think he'd have less than a 1% chance of beating Pavlik. I think the style matchup heavily favours Pavlik. Reason #1 being the huge size difference. Ginge looked a similar size to Matthew fucking Hatton. Pavlik is a big, strong, 6'3 middleweight. In his prime he had good stamina and workrate, and very good power. And a long, hard, jab. Canelo is 5'7, shit stamina, easy enough to hit, not very mobile, not very good at tying up, and surely not powerful at 160. Pavlik would walk him down and beat him up. I'd be surprised if Canelo saw round 7.
I hear ya! But I still think pavlik is crapper than you guys think and his style suits a counter puncher like Alvarez. Watch a couple of rounds of Pavlik-Zertuche (another 5'7-8 Mexican) and see how often Pavlik falls short and is countered, how much he telegraphs, how poor he is at having to close down the ring, how inaccurate he is when the other guys is fighting cautiously. Then envision the Alvarez who fought Trout in Zertuche's place. I can't see Pavlik dominating at all.
The Alvarez who fought Trout was getting at times pushed back, and touched up by a BASIC, feather-fisted puncher. Zertuche tagged Pav with some decent shots early on, but for the most part, Pav beat the living fuck outta him, then put him out COLD! Do you think Crapnelo handles Pavlik's firepower for 12 rounds? I sure as shit don't.
Offensively he was more complete than Crapnelo. He was far bigger, and stronger than Crapnelo, had more firepower, and MUCH MUCH better stamina.
Let's not forget Canelo was getting stung and backed up by Floyd. He has no business at middleweight. Prime Taylor would have slapped him about with ease too.
