Recently most all the music i like is Scottish or Irish. Music of the blood and the soil. Interpret that. Eros and agape, eh? I'm pished. Prehistoric mead, atavistic music.

There's a guy called 'drummers against implied time keeping' who is pretty great. It isn't really covers per se, mind

Roll, you'll probably enjoy the various videos of the legendary session man Bernard 'Pretty" Purdie

    <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/6FX_84iWPLU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Amazing drummer and a real character... He used to show up for sessions with two placards placed in front of his drumkit to the left and the right of his bass drum... The one on the left would read "You done did it!..." and then the one on the right would say "You Done hired the Hitmaker! Bernard "Pretty" Purdie"

Purdie's great on 'Live At Fillmore West' as a member of King Curtis' amazing band, The Kingpins (Purdie/Preston/Dupree/Jemmot/Thomas)

However...who would you rate above Purdie as a drummer.....since?

The song exists. You probably just listen to extreme left radio where they changed the lyrics to "when a man rams his cock up your ass"

I'm not sure I understand the question?

Purdie plays a shuffle about as gracefully as is humanly possible... Superb sound... He's about as good as it gets when it comes to filling across two measures (outro of "Caves Of Altamira" from Steely Dan is a great example) ... He's exceptionally musical with his fills, like a Max Roach... You can set your watch to him, his time is perfect

There's been so many amazing drummers and the greatest ones all have distinct styles and sounds... Out of Purdie's fellow session aces, Do you rate Jim Gordon higher? Hal Blaine? Jeff Porcaro? Jim Keltner? To me, there's no way to rate these guys against one another, guys of that caliber... They're all brilliant, amazing musicians of the first order... I wouldn't be comfortable with "Purdie is better than Gordon" or "Gordon is better than Purdie"... They are both incredible and they are both special... It's all gravy

    Fucking AWFUL.
I had the mis-fortune to watch these arseholes back in the 1980s...and I hated them.
I hated them that much...I went to see them twice that year.
Music that came along in that mid-80s period when it was okay for Mum and Dad to like 'pop/rock' music.
    Ugh.

Dire Straits didn't just pre-date Bieber, they fucking predicted him.

"See that little faggot with the earring and the makeup, yeah buddy, that's his own hair, that little faggot got his own jet airplane, that little faggot he's a millionaire".

First 'pop' music I ever heard. Played all those old thick, vinyl mono editions of their albums to death.
Of course, they were more than just music - but now, I'm just...bored of them and even worse, their 'legacy' that everyone hammers to death.
    'Over-saturation'.
