To Date its Still Arguably THE Biggest, Most IMPROBABLE Upset in Not Only Boxing, but SPORTS History... Fuck Boxing, Tyson-Douglas is RIGHT THERE w/the U.S. Olympic Hockey Team BEATING Russia (on their Way to Wining an Olympic Gold Medal), Joe Namath's AFL New York Jets BEATING the Indianapolis Colts, Villanova BEATING Georgetown for the National Basketball Championship (in the 80's) or Any Other MAJOR Sports Upset... WHERE were YOU that Day???...Did You Watch the Fight Live???...Thoughts???.. REED:hammert:
Not sure where I was, but I remember hearing about it the next day and being completely stunned... Tyson was invincible to those of us growing up back then
I'd have been 4 so probably finger painting or learning where the sun went to sleep at night or something.
I was at a party my friend was having in his garage. He had 'cool' parents that would let us underage kids drink, as long as we stayed in the garage. But because the Tyson fight was on, his father let a couple of us come in and watch it. I remember hearing that Tyson looked bad in camp and was even knocked down by Greg Page in sparring in the weeks leading up to the fight, so I wanted to put a huge amount of money...at the time for me that was something like $20...on Douglas, but being only 17, I didn't really know any bookies yet. When the fight started, there may have been 4 or 5 of us in the living room, but as the fight went on and word spread, by the time Douglas KO'd Tyson, damn near the entire party moved to the living room in front of the TV. It was a huge happening. TFK
I was 6. Had my photograph taken the next day, my jumper looked like static on a television. I had Velcro trainers then too.
I was 12 and I remember running by your place and shitting on your finger painting and hollering "YAHTZEE!"
it was the 11 th in Japan but didnt it air here Sat the 10th? i remember i was keen on watching NBA slam dunk contest , and thought Tyson fight would end in mere minutes giving me plenty of time to watch it Feb 11 was a Sunday in 1990 boxing's never had a big fight on a Sunday ?
I was telling my son while we listened on the radio that Tyson was about to get knocked out because Robyn Givens and Ruth Roper stripped him of whatever self-respect he had left and he was going through the motions from there forward.
Was Tyson\Douglas even on the radio? The only fight I ever recall hearing on the radio was Sugar Ray\Donny Lalonde. TFK
i was right in front of the tv watching live. it was rare to get to see tyson live at that point because my dad would never order the PPVs, but this was a non ppv fight
