Self explanatory. Which fighters had the most awesome peaks of all time?

    The most obvious:

    Mid-to-late 90's Jones

    Late 80's/early 90's Whitaker

    Early 80's Leonard

    Late 70's Duran

    Late 60's Ali

    Late 80's Tyson

    Late 80's/early 90's Chavez

    Others?

Willie Pep 1942-1947 (pre- plane crash, basically) ... He went 87-1-1 with the one loss coming to a hall of fame lightweight and the draw also coming against a lightweight (whom he knocked out a few fights later) ... During this time he fought and beat essentially every decent known Featherweight around... It wasn't until after the crash, in 1948 that he fought the great Saddler and lost his second fight... By that time his total record from 1940 (when he turned pro) up to that first Saddler fight was a ridiculous 135-1-1

    That's a hell of a peak

If you took Felix Trinidad and multiplied his career times ten, he'd be 1/8 as good as Willie Pep:aye:

If the internet was around 1947 there could have been some real debates about who was p4p no1. Charles, Pep & Robinson all right at or near their peak.

    He's definitely up there.

Early-to-mid 80's Hagler is up there as well.

So is early-to-mid 80's Mike Spinks.

Curry for about 2 years, 3 at the most was an incredible fighter, but I don't think that's long enough to be in this class... If he had held it together another year, maybe had one more big win and one more good win, I'd see an argument for him

While I'd hardly put his peak amongst the very best of all time, Camacho was one helluva fighter 83-85.

    Camacho was a fraud

He had one impressive win (Ramirez, a real good fighter, who was nonetheless made for him) and a win over a badly faded Bazooka Limon... that's it... Once he got in there with Rosario and was fortunate to escape with a win, his true nature was revealed... He was a front-runner and a bullshitter... Even if you're blown away by him circa 83-85, on what do you base the argument for him being some elite fighter or a fighter with an elite peak? Who'd he fight besides JLR?

Whitaker would have walked Camacho down and won it going away and then left him as a single mother raising a buttbaby all on her own
