Vanishing Point is one of the best 'cult films' of the 70's. The main character works for a car delivery service and takes a bet to take the 1970 Dodge Challenger from Colorado to San Francisco in less than 15 hours. Exciting car chases with the police, encounters with different colorful characters (like a stunning nude chick riding a bike!), existential commentaries in the dialogue and visuals. What's not to like about this little film? Sure, now it looks dated and 'Fast & the Furious' has copied it more than once, but it is still a70's gem.

Nicholas and Alexandra is a GREAT film classic about the last Czars of Russia, the influence of Rasputin on the Czarina and the communist uprising. It was nominated for six Academy Awards and won two. You should definitely give it a try to this historical film.

    Well, from a directing standpoint:

    Gran Torino
    Million Dollar Baby
    The Hereafter
    Flags Of Our Fathers

    Under-rated Eastwood:

    A Perfect World
Letters From Iwo Jima (though it is pretty highly rated already)
    Bird

    Rated about right:

    Mystic River
Invictus (though it has it's problems)
    Unforgiven
    Pale Rider

As an actor he is what he is. I think a lot of people enjoy his persona. Sure he doesn't have a ton of range, but he knows that, and he works very well with what he does have. Though a completely different personality, he's similar to a George Clooney. He's never going to be unrecognizable..........but you don't usually mind that.

He's a compelling presence, the way Nicholson is a compelling presence... Both could be accused of always being either the same guy or someone similar to the same guy, but people enjoying seeing that guy

He has range in the sense that he's a different man in different roles, different motivations, different reactions (he's vulnerable in "Play Misty For Me", "The Beguiled", "Tightrope", "Bridges Of Madison County"... He's anything but in the Leone films and his motivations in those films are murky... His motivations in "Dirty Harry" are crystal clear...) ... He doesn't always play a tough guy... The reason he is well loved is because he's been in many excellent films and he has a commanding aura about him... People enjoy seeing that character deal with whatever he is dealing with

Does Nicholson have any more range than Eastwood? No, not really, he's always basically Jack Nicholson, but it is fun to watch Jack Nicholson... You want to see what he's going to do, what he's going to say, what face he's going to make, etc.

These guys aren't actors in the chameleon sense, they are Movie Stars

I think Jack has a little more range than eastwood, but it doesnt matter. I go to see Jack and clint. Their names in the movies are jack and clint. And that's it.

The Eiger Sanction is a piece of crap. I watched it when it was released and the audience was groaning and laughing at so many stupid scenes in it that weren't meant to be funny.
