sure, but average world class fighters don't. All 4 fights had rounds where one guy locked in a body triangle and nothing came of it. A few years ago it usually resulted in rear naked choke or gnp tko/sub, but nowadays most ufc level fighters are skilled enough to defend themselves in that position. The refs need to stand that shit up if it goes on for over a minute.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. I don't think dominant positions like back control or a body triangle should be used for stalling. If a fighter isn't looking to do damage or end the fight, they should be "stood up".

I was just pointing out that Jacare's body triangle looks painful.

It looked like a knockout kick when I watched it live. Like the kind that knocked out Randy Couture. Upon further review, it looked like a good shot but not with the kind of power I thought originally. Mousasi still has a hell of a chin.

I still think Machida beats Weidman. He has the perfect style to beat him. No one other than John Jones can take Machida down and do damage on the ground. Machida is a much better striker than Weidman, and he can keep the fight standing as long as he wants.

yeah it was a good shot, but looked less powerful during the replay.

I think weidman handles machida. Machida runs from anyone who is a threat and Weidman is too smart to follow machida all night. And while i think Machida's TDD is one of the best, i think Weidman will be able to take him down several times.

i think machida gets stopped vs. weidman. i'm more interested in seeing jacre fight weidman if should he get by belfort.

Jacare has the best bjj in the division, but I don't think he'll beat Weidman. I might be wrong.

Weidman is obviously better than Anderson Silva right now. I don't know if he's the same kind of dominant champion. He'll prove it if he can beat guys like Belfort, Machida, and Jacare.

Yep. Jacare struggled against Kennedy and Rockhold because he couldn't take either of them down.

He'll have the same issue with Weidman. And I think Weidman, unlike most, won't shy away from taking Jacare down. This alone will impact Jacare's winging striking style and make him significantly less effective.

Oddly, I think Jacare is the 2nd best guy in the division right now but I like Belfort and Machida's chances against Weidman more.
