Not true. You might be confusing him with Dan Miragliotta, who is basically known as one of the worst refs who dont know when it's time to stop fights or let them go.
I mean just google best mma referee and you will see a bunch of websites with a bunch of lists and all have Herb as #1. It's one of the few things most MMA fans agree on.
Rousey was going to win the fight regardless. I didn't plan on going to this card, but I got a last-second invite and went. I don't mean to say that I knew Rousey would win prior to the fight, I didn't. I would have picked her, but it was easy to imagine that McMann might be too strong, just take her down, and lay and pray her to a boring victory. However, once it was apparent that Rousey wasn't going to get taken down at will, her superior skills were evident. Bad stoppage, but not terrible. McMann never did protect herself. I think the Cormier fight stoppage might have been a tick worse. Whatever. I had low expectations and the card met them. The crowd at the bar was not as small as I suspected it might be. I am also interested in the #'s this card gets. It may establish the low water mark for a Rousey fight from here on out.

Your gif in #37 doesn't match up with what you are saying. McMann dropped hard. Dean should have been moving forward when she went down. Then McMann never protects her face. She gets hit with 3 rights before Dean gets there. Then she gets hit with a left and a right as Dean is stopping Rousey. McMann never fights back, never protects herself. McMann never really looks too hurt from the head shots, but you can't drop like that, then eat punches like that and expect to get the wait and see approach from too many referees. I'm not planning on defending Dean anymore, haha. I also thought it was a quick stoppage, just not bad to the extent you are claiming.
My Gif matches perfectly to what i am saying. After one punch Dean was already stepping in to stop the fight. The two other punches landed because Dean couldnt stop them or ronda didnt stop. Which basically means that Dean was going to stop that fight simply because mcmann dropped to the ground. He just was too far away to do so. It's a body shot. You can drop from a body shot. It's not a head shot. She had no time to defend herself. When Dean stopped the fight, mcmann was on her way up. This is a title fight. Watch Lesner vs. Carwin. The stop was horrible.
She looked very hurt from the body shot. I was talking about the followup head shots. I count 5. 3 rights before Dean touched them. A left and a right after Dean got there.
Herb came in running with his hand already waiving. And none of those punches were particular hard and according to mcmann, none landed to her face. 5 punches? no. The fight was being stopped after 1.
