47 RONIN As you already know Keanu Reeves stars in this feudal Japan fantasy film that bombed miserably during Christmas season. The film has been trashed so much by critics and so-called moviegoers that I was expecting a boring turkey of epic proportions. To my surprise this one turn out to be a very entertaining film. It hook me into its plot almost immediately. The sets are excellent the costumes great, cinematography colorful and the action is very good. The acting is acceptable or this kind of film. The special effects could have been better, but weren't laughable. The plot revolves around the outcast half-breed (Reeves) who after his Lord protector is betrayed and murdered, he along with 47 degraded samurai warriors or ronin, embark on a quest for revenge against the evil Lord who took their land and the daughter of his dead master. Was this film's story worth $160 million budget? No. Is it a good film? Hell, yes! It has many flaws, but which popcorn film doesn't have flaws? 8/10

This film was no better than a 6/10. I personally would give it a 5.5. It had lousy acting, shit pacing and the only thing that saved it was decent action sequences. Watching this you'll be amazed at how Keanu Reeves never improved much as an actor as compared to a guy like Brad Pitt who is worlds better than the actor he started out as.

Panchy sure is one overzealous film critic. He gives great reviews but his scores are too often off the mark. I can't even remember how many 9/10's he's awarded to mediocre films.

Oh he has improved. But it's just very little. And the reason he hasnt much is because he never took his career seriously as Pitt Did. Pitt bettered his craft.

Pitt has remained active and a box office magnet. Reeves on the other hand after the Matrix trilogy hasn't had any hit and he took a long sabbatical before resurfacing last year.

You're right he has improved, you need only see the extremely underrated Street Kings for proof. However, if you watch 47 Ronin you'll either forget he improved or feel like he drastically mailed in his performance.

This one was the pits. Looked pretty, but there's 1000 other Chinese/Japanese made epic period action pics that are way better then this.
