This. It is always surprising when it happens, yet it is not unusual at all that a guy who looks like a world-beater against scrubs gets destroyed at the top level. It can be just a little change, bit faster punches, opponents with better defense, and everything seems to be different. Golovkin looks like the goods and his amateur success should suggest that he will do well, but we'll see
Excellent. :bears: Can't wait for the excuse parade when a fight breaks out for the first time in GGG's life.
that doesn't seem like a very objective criterion but your expertise is good enough for me. I don't see it happening to GGG, either.
Objectivity's the intermediate stage of learning. Before I knew the art a resume was just a resume. then when I learned the art a resume was no longer just a resume! Now I have been touched by the three cutenessess that bear record in heaven a resume is just a resume again.
Nice. I'm a Golovkin fan, but I was starting to get very critical of him because he seemed reluctant to fight good oppositions. This is one of the best fight he could take
I agree to an extent Hut. Even against bums it's obvious when a guy looks inept or limited and you can he's being overhyped. Likewise you can tell when a guy is a natural in there, effortlessly destroying bums like it's nothing, like Gaybox - you know he's the goods. There are exceptions though. Sometimes a guy can look the goods destroying bums, then his limitations are shown up in a massive way when he fights a prime, world class fighter for the first time, and he gets clowned. The best examples of that are Tito and Hamed. I'm a big fan of Gaybox, but I wouldn't be THAT confident of him beating Martinez at his best, purely because he is still unproven against top competition.
REED has Been VERY Critical of GGG's Resume, but NO Complaints @ All w/Chavez Jr., as his Next Opponent... REED:hammert:
Chumpez Junior would have a difficult enough time beating Macklin. In fact, who's to say he even beats Macklin? Macklin is a lot better than that BUM Vera. This is gonna be a slaughter. If Junior has any success at all, it's only gonna be for a short while when GGG is getting warmed up. Soon as Gennady let's his hands go regularly, it's gonna be like the classic Chris Rock stand-up is titled, "Bring The Pain."
Macklin also laid down for Golovkin in embarrassing fashion. Golovkin obviously has skilled but watching these tomato cans go down from jabs and arm punches is disgraceful and it will be intriguing to see how he deals with a guy who goes after him.
Yeah, because that left hook to the body that finished him was SUCHHHH a soft punch. What a crock of shit. Macklin isn't the type of fighter to just lay down. He was simply destroyed. The guy went down from that liver shot like he had been fucking shot. It was a legit KO. And it'll be interesting to see how he deals with a guy who goes after him????? CHUMPEZ JUNIOR????? The same Chumpez Junior that was just given two tough fights by BRIAN FUCKING VERA??? Some of yall are tards. Gennady is gonna shit on Chavez.
I will say, to be SERIOUS (OK, this is me being serious....now:) we don't really know how GGG will handle it if/when he can't push the other guy back and has to fight more on the back foot. There have been signs that he might not be too comfortable with it, but its difficult to know what to read into them. Chavez being as big and dumb as he is might be the guy to test that out.
Golov thrashed the shit outta that dopey bum in sparring. I know sparring isn't always the best indicator, but in watching Junior, I still can't see what that dopey stiff has to offer GGG.
Sure he got hit, he also ran away cowering from the mighty GGG without throwing a single meaningful punch, ran himself against the ropes for no discernible reason then went into the standing fetal position. It was an embarrassing performance and I'd guarantee we won't see something similar with Chavez
Macklin fought scared for the first 2 rounds. In the 3rd fight, he tried to open up on G, and he was a goner VERY shortly after. Chumpez Junior has never been hit by a REAL puncher. It's easy to go toe-to-toe with the Brian Vera's of the world.
He had success when he threw leather. He lost because he ran to the ropes and covered up in front of a puncher. If GGG can consistently take Chavez out of the center that would be an accomplishment. Also forget not having faced a puncher like Golovkin, who has Golovkin fought with the chin of Chavez?
Chumpez was stunned a few times by light hitting Vera. Not seriously hurt at all, but buzzed a few times. If a big punching, accurate guy like GGG can hit you AT WILL, eventually it takes it's roll. Hagler, and Chavez Senior had granite chins, but guess what? Those guys actually had good defense. Junior can't spell defense.
do you think Chavez will pretend to be hurt and get stopped like the other chaps who have faced this pillow puncher??
