I thought he ok in Silver Linings but nothing exceptional. Never saw the other one.

Its all just him doing the same 3 gurning, constipated facial expressions while talking at the ground. As I said, he's a parody of himself by this point

 

'The academy' do that shit all the time anyway....hand out nominations on a decade time lag anyway. somebody puts in a great performance in 1993, they ignore it; start realizing the mistake they make then reward them Ex Post for some nondescript dumpling much later. They're a shower of bum boys

 

I saw bits of it on the tele, it inspired no desire to watch the whole thing. It was late De Niro being late De Niro. What was the other one where he has a troubled son and there's a shoot out near the end? City by The Sea? He was absolute painful in that.

 

The academy gave that hack cage an oscar

 

Of all the five nominees in 1995, his was the best one. A deserved win. No controversy here.

 

I saw him acting in it. That was what we were talking about, not the quality of the film.
