The first two that were made in the early 90's were actually quality movies. I'm almost certain that this won't live up to them.

Yeah it holds up well. I remember being slightly disappointed in the movie as a kid but it is great as an adult.

Always loved the first one. Had mad replay value, and that is one of my favorite scenes from it. I hated part 2 though, and didn't even bother with part 3.

Does it matter? I didn't even bother to read that.
It could say "From Editor Michael Bay" - it doesn't change the fact that its a shit movie.

no, it was fun. and re watchable. Mostly because we were kids and loved the ninja turtles. But the acting was shit and the storyline was borderline retarded.

I can agree that the acting wasn't great, but the storyline wasn't retarded. Unrealistic maybe, but not retarded, and if we're going to condemn a movie for not being realistic, then more than half of all of the films out there would get labeled as shit.

IMO a movie can only be criticized for realism within the context of the film. For instance in a film like Gravity if one of the astronauts lost their helmet but was able to fly from station to station holding their breath that is a cause to criticize the film for realism. But TMNT's is about some damn human sized walking and talking turtles so the reality aspect is already a forgone conclusion. In that context I don't think it's fair to criticize it for realism. Fun movie doesn't automatically equate to a shit movie.

i never mentioned reality. I said retarded. Like i said, had we not been so in love with the cartoon, and the movie just came out we would think it was dumb. Our love for the cartoon made us love the movie. Most movies kids love as a kid, continue to love them as adult. But i watch some of the movies my kids love today and know they will love when they are older and think the shit is dumb. Because i have no connection to it.

The TMNT Cartoon movie that came out a few years ago, was much better than the original.

No, it is not. I remember watching it at the movie theater packed with screaming kids. They loved the shitty movie, but I was bored to death by its amateurish acting, stupid plot, awful direction and lame attempts at humor. The only good thing about it was the turtles make-up outfits and some fight scenes. 3/10

Im sure most adults felt that way about the movie. But us kids loved it. and we still do.

I'd watch it, but the director being hand picked by Bay is a warning sign to stay away from it.

That is what the first one was supposed to be, but even as a children's film was failed.

Bullshit. The first one is one of the few "kids" movies that I could still re-watch today, and enjoy. It's definitely a good movie. The second one, "Secret of The Ooze" was pretty good also. Then they made a third one with them in Japan. That one was pretty shitty.

Any movie you enjoyed as a kid you will enjoy today. Especially if you watched it all the time It's just the way it works man. That movie wasnt good. And the secret of Ooze wasnt anything close to pretty good. "Go ninja Go ninja Gooooo. I made another funny!!!!"

    Get a grip.

Yeah but apparently Panchy was a 30 year old pedophile back then. It's no wonder he couldn't enjoy the movie since his real intention being there was to scope out potential victims in the audience.

    BINGO!
That is the correct explanation. I still love and enjoy all those lousy Mexican wrestling horror films because they were part of my childhood and in a certain way I can relieve a bit of those years when watching those films today, but I am aware that they are shitty movies. I will not fool myself thinking otherwise. The Secret of The Ooze was even worst than the first one. The Vanilla Ice song wasn't even close to 'Spin that Wheel' from the first one.

I'm with X on this one. I agree it was just a well done good movie even for a kid's film. The dialogue was good the humor was cute, even the fighting/action sequences were good. I thought that for the source material it was an excellent job. Plus, I liked Howard the Duck as a kid but there is no way I could sit through that film today. The TMNT movie I could, IMO it was a good movie, and had nothing to do with me liking them as a kid. I don't get swayed by outside factors.

Also, on IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes it scores out at a 6.7 & 80%. That type of movie wouldn't get such lofty scores from audience members if it were shit. Part 2 got 5.9 IMDB/68% RT score and part 3 got 4.7 IMDB/37% RT score.

I do agree about the sequel though. I'm actually surprised so many people liked it because I thought it was considered a universally bad movie by all.

    1. It got 44% on Rotten tomatoes. the 80% you referenced is the regular audience like you and me. The 44% were actual critics that get paid. 6.7% on IMDB again is regular audience rating it.
    2. The dialogue was not good. The action was okay, but it was clunky since they were in their suits.
    3. You will always have a soft spot for Howard the Duck. Maybe you wont sit through the whole thing, but im sure that's more because you didnt understand the movie as a child and you just liked the small little duck. Now older, you can get the stupid concept. With Ninja Turtles, even a child can get the concept.

The movie was not good. It was shit. sorry. but i love that shit movie. If it came out today, it would go straight to video.

Yes I know it was regular fan ratings which is what I said in the initial post. I understood Howard the Duck fine, and I never said I don't like it anymore I just couldn't watch it these days.

I thought the dialogue was fine and the movie was good. Something about the dialogue from movies a few years ago that just doesn't seem to be the same today. Dialogue back in the day was simple and seemed to just move the film along, now adays it's just crappy and doesn't seem to just flow with the films.

Anyway, I guess we'll just have to have differing opinions on this one.
