Agreed. I'm not sure I can watch TMNT's now but it's not because it's a bad film that's dated but more because it's so awesome a movie I've seen it too many damn times already. I like the Karate Kid comparison.

As for the Never Ending Story, I remember seeing that one in the movies as a kid and hating it from the start. The gloomy grey theme of the film just gnawed at the back of my mind and I could never comfortably enjoy the story. I never ever sat through it again.

Maybe your tastes have changed, but The NeverEnding Story is considered a fantasy classic, based on a popular children's book. Check the Rotten Tomatoes ratings: better than the TMNT. It looks dated now, but it is still a good movie that adults can enjoy too. The two sequels and the tv series were awful, though.

Movie critics, adult audiences, children an lovers of the fantasy genre. If any movie is good, it gets praised. If it sucks, it gets backlash, no matter how much money it makes (see Michael Bay films).

:scratcher: don't you know how to think for yourself?

i've watched both myself with my own eyes and rated them myself with my own brain

or am i supposed to say "this movie sucks...but it is considered a fantasy classic based on a popular book, so i better give it a few bonus points" ? :dunno:

I rate The NeverEnding Story as one of the best fantasy movies ever made. I have watched that film more times than I can remember. I watched it as an adult, so it is not a childhood thing to me. The film has a GREAT plot, the child actors are good and the special effects were state of the art at its time. The music score was great too. Maybe this is not your kind of genre, but the TMNT film can be dissected frame by frame as a crappy movie from any angle. The whole concept was cringe worthy. Just think about it: children being lured to commit crimes are beaten violently by 'our heroes'. That was wrong, man, completely tasteless! I mean the damn movie had to be financed by Hong Kong's Golden Harvest Studio since no Hollywood studio wanted to put a dime to produce that awful script.

Yeah, and audiences praised TMNT's. Only the critics hated it, and I think that's because they didn't view it in context.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's not 9 year olds logging on to IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes to post positive scores of the TMNT's movies. 9 year old's got better things to do with their time. There's chocolate to eat video games to play etc.

No but most were probably children in the early 90s and imdb sucks as a ratings website

oh ok. Transformers Made a lot more money Than Godfather. Money means shit. You were a snotty little brat just like me who dragged our parents to the theaters to see one of our favorite cartoons come to life on the big screen.

Also, Never ending story was released in only 950 theaters.

Dude what the fuck are you talking about? I love the ninja turtles. I have said it countless times on here. I FUCKING LOVE THE MOVIE.

That doesn't change the fact that the movie is shit. Horrible Acting, Horrible Dialogue, horrible editing, horrible direction, etc.

Is not craziness. I understand Anthony perfectly since, for example, I still love to watch those old lame Mexican wrestling films which on a scale from one to ten barely makes a one, but is because of the nostalgia factor, not because they were great. In my heart they are awesome, thus I wear the Blue Demon mask in my avatar pic to give you hint. BTW 75 year old Mil Mascaras won a wrestling match two weeks ago and the sequel to his 2007 film 'Mil Mascaras vs The Aztec Mummy' will be released this summer! :hammert:

No it is craziness. I'm with Roll here. TMNT's movie was awesome then and it still holds up today. I don't get how Godfather says all that negative shit about it. I didn't find none of those things a problem with that film. Even if every issue he mentioned is true it was obviously such minor details that it was barely noticeable and didn't affect the quality of the film.

i dunno, for me if i like a movie then it is not shit :dunno: acting, production, dialogue etc that is all subjective really...whatever works to make me like a movie makes it a good movie

and there are really only a few kids movies from my childhood that i can watch again right now and enjoy, so it's a rarity for sure

You are right. NOW. When you are a child, you dont think of that. And despite what you think, most people that like a movie as a child, tend to like the movie as an adult. Im sure you can find an exception to the rule, but in the end, it's just an exception.

Well how do we know that the rule doesn't actually work the other way and when it doesn't, THAT is the exception?

That's too black and white for me to believe. I think it's a lot greyer than that and it depends on the person and the movie. I also find it hard to believe that you've discussed this with so many different people throughout your life. Have you been taking a lifetime census on people and the movies they watched as kids?
