Too me it was one of those comedies that had a few genuine LOL moments but overall wasn't very good.

 

That is one of those films I have zero interest in watching.

 

Oh so now Step Brothers sucks hunh? I thought everyone loved Step Brothers. I've been saying since day one that that was a piece of shit movie and everyone was always praising how funny it was. Dumbest shit ever.

 

The only kind of comedies I think suck ballas are shit like "Somethng About Mary" and "American Pie" ... that kind of shit is awful

Something like "Anchorman" mocks the act of movie-making itself, which to me, is funny

 

Something About Mary is better than BOTH Anchor Man movies.

We can both agree on American Pie. That whole franchise is fuckin horrible.

The characters are cartoons... everything about Ron Burgundy is a mockery of a real person... his motivations are ridiculous and shallow... the things that happen to him are completely absurd... the words he says in earnest would never be uttered by a real person ever under any circumstances... nothing in the film should be taken seriously, it's completely absurd... everything is a joke

I mean, we are talking about a film where the protagonist holds a shark like a baby and feeds it milk from a baby bottle... a film where an RV cruises down the highway for several minutes with no one behind the wheel... it's meant to be over the top and completely fucking ludicrous and you guys are critiquing it like it is a serious work of art, I just find that amusing

 

see, THAT is funnier than any of the actual jokes in those two films

 

there are thousands of comedies that do the same only better..MUCH better :scratcher:

we are comparing it to those, where it ranks somewhere towards the bottom

 

If you can't see the difference between the two of them, I dunno what to tell you.

I generally think that Ben Stiller is an unfunny faggot in MOST movies, but Something About Mary is a funny movie. Mainly due to Matt Dillon.

 

Ben Stiller is very funny when he acts like a maniac... he's unfunny when he's "cute"

Dodgeball, for example... he's hilarious

Something About Mary was some dick joke/romantic comedy shit... I hated it... I hate the Farrelly Brothers

 

Dodgeball is a funny movie. As is Tropic Thunder.

Can't think of too many other movies I like him in.

You can tell Will Ferrell is embarrassed by most of the movies he makes, but he just can't turn down the boatloads of money they keep throwing at him, no matter how bad the movies are.
