Obviously Pavlik wasn't on the same level as Calzaghe, my point was Bernard moved and threw punches aplenty in that fight. I don't think there was a massive issue with stamina like people claim. Against lesser fighters than Joe, Bernard could go punch for punch, it wasn't an age/stamina issue, it was Calzaghes adjustments which caused the problem.

Hopkins, Toney, Jones Jr for starters. LaMotta would maul him.. Foster was a LHW, but fighting today he could easily be a SMW, and he would beat Ward. Same could be said for a lot of pre-SMW division light heavies. Hearns would be interesting. GMan definitely has a punchers chance.

Hut, man, you're my dudebro 'n' all but scoring that fight for Nard is pure hate and nothing more

I've always been a Nard appreciator, and I was rooting hard for him especially after dominating Slappy Joe for 3 rounds. But Joe then went on to win the remainder of them, all 9. The worst I could see for Slappy is 8-4. A Nard win is stone cold insanity, like Rios over Abril or Bradley over Pacquiao.

Given Foster's 6'3 frame, I couldn't see him ever being a Supermiddle. But yes, Foster would destroy Ward.

Lamotta likely gets outpointed, but it'd be interesting.

You are correct about Hearns. I'd give Tommy a very good chance, styelwise.

Foster weighed below 175 for a few fights iirc (too lazy to check boxrec). He'd be an average-small sized super middle today.

An "average sized super middleweight" who would be at 175 knocking Stevenson, and Kovalev dead.

    LMFAO!

Guys, the weigh difference in 24 hours, not one week. Foster was toooooooooo fuckin big to EVER be a middleweight. That's crazy talk.

With modern training, he'd be a MORE FILLED OUT looking lightheavy.

LMAO @ Bob Foster being a middleweight.

He was 6'4! He was taller than Ali when they fought for Christ sake!

LMAO @ Bob Foster being a middleweight.

he was 6'3, tops. No more than an inch taller than Keith Holmes or Kelly Pavlik and with a narrow frame, too

Foster would come in at 180 for heavyweight fights. I bet Jermain taylor & Chavez Jr weighed more than that at Middleweight.

If he was inclined to cut weight like those guys he'd make 160

Weight doesn't tell the fully story of SIZE. That's the problem in your thinking.

Ricky Hatton and Brandon Rios probably came in weighing more than Ray Leonard. But Ray was a bigger man.

If he's 180 walking around without cutting weight at all he can hydrate down to 160 using modern methods. There's basically no doubt about it.

No, he'd be a more filled out LHW who would weigh-in at 174-175 and come into the ring weighing 185-190.

Not EVERY fighter has to put on 20 pounds coming into the ring.

Kov came in weighing only 183 on fight night against Agnew.

And he was AT LEAST 6'3. You talk about 6'3 like that's average for a middle or something.

Guys like G-man and Pavlik were HUGE middleweights, and they were only 6'1.

Foster was taller, and bigger than both those men. He'd never make 160. Super-middle is the LOWEST weight he'd ever be at.

Maybe, but you're moving the goalposts. A guy with his frame as it was would at middleweight or a small 168er.

If there's anybody in the world today with a similar frame to Bob, it's probably Ismael Sillak. Only I would say Foster was more muscled, and with a more solid base. Oh and obviously, about 100x more talented than Sillak.

Next we'll be hearing that Duran would be a small featherweight today.

Foster had big legs and thighs for a tall skinny guy... He's not making 160 beyond his teenage years even with the extra day... Super middle I could see (where he would lobotomize calslappy)

Joe would only fight Foster if it's 2014 version of Bob.

Foster is way skinnier than Sillakh. If you can't see that I think we should agree to disagree.

If Duran had come in for fights with no contracted weight limit at 139lb the comparison would hold.

Duran actually beat a top FW in Ernesto Marcel, so yes, I can actually see championship winning Duran at 126

what difference is "modern training" going to make to his size? boxers cut weight back then & they cut weight now. if anything, he would boil down more to make a lower weight. the biggest advance in modern times in terms of making weight has been cutting water due to day-before weigh-ins.

what you're saying about "weight vs size" makes no sense. there are 6'3" middleweights. chavez jr probably weighed 190 for some of his fights at 160. there's no reason foster wouldn't be able to cut 10-15 lb of water just because he's 6'3." that makes no sense at all.

Paul Williams was 6'3. Therefore Foster should have been able to make welter as well.
