He has world class jui-jitsu, phenomenal striking and top notch wrestling.

He has insane power, great striking and his grappling is a level above most other guys in MMA.

    Give other examples!

    No, he doesn't exaggerate.

Every other fighter really does have boxing, wrestling or jiu-jitsu that's on a completely different level than other guys.

He is told to promote certain fighters by the upper management.

I have never hear him say this guy is so-so or has average striking. When he introduces guys they're always awesome in everything. Also a favorite can fight a total can but they always act like every fight is 50:50.

I have heard him bash fighter's striking before.

    Not usually.

I think he exaggerated Travis Browne's striking ability but I think that was more due to ignorance than disingenuity. Travis Browne is a big hitter but Rogan doesn't have a technical boxing background and generally doesn't seem to be too in the know in terms of that. To emphasize the poin, I thought going into the fight Werdum would be the better striker. They acted surprised when Werdum was outstriking which made me question where they have been for the last 3 years.

He also called Werdum world class because he has multiple world titles in jiu-jitsu and has submitted two of the top three heavyweights in MMA history.

Usually that sort of over the top hype is relegated to the top fights on a card where the fighters truly are the best in the world, so no.

Which fighters in particular did you think were being overhyped?

you do but not with every fighter. Just people they are trying to hype. The UFC is horrible at creating stars.

Rogan tends to pretend a lot of the women don't suck to sell that division but other than that...

Rogan is a very annoying announcer. Kevin Harlan-esque

I'm a big fan of Joe Rogan as a commentator and a comedian. His depth of knowledge with BJJ is something you'd expect from a longtime pro fighter.

He does tend to overhype the underdog when the fight's a clear mismatch. When a champion is fighting an obviously unworthy opponent, he makes it sound like it will be a close fight. He has to sell the fights I guess. You wouldn't expect an employee of the UFC to be honest and say that Dan Hardy has no chance of beating GSP.

Rogan expiration date as an commentator is far passed. At first, he was kind of funny and, as the UFC was pretty much minor league, his lack of professionalism wasn't too big of an issue. Plus, they were far fewer cards so we didn't notice him using the same line over and over again.

Rogan is top notch and a huge part of the UFC past and current success. Imo, it would be stupid of the UFC to get rid of him.

Rogan knows his stuff, but he is also a company man. The UFC wont hurt itself to let him go. The UFC was better when there were three commentators there. Two excellent commentators are Frank Mir and Randy couture. I would love to see Mir, Couture & Gus Johnson in the UFC. It would really be wonderful.

rogan's awesome and knows what he's talking about, but he does get a little overzealous when guys are on the ground.

When Mir was commentating for the WEC, he was among the best I've heard.

Anthony- Gus Johnson? Have you lost your mind? He was horrible for Strikeforce and EliteXC. He made Shamrock sound like Dick Enberg in comparison.

Rogan is educated in the subtle nuances of the sport and that makes him a huge asset. He does get over the top from time to time, but I think that is because he loves the sport and loves what he's doing it. When he started with the UFC he was working for free. He volunteered his time because he loved the sport. Apparently now he is getting paid big bucks, as he should. You could do a whole lot worse than Rogan....

    Like Gus Johnson.

I was also a big fan of Mir in his WEC days, and hopefully he'll pursue that line of work and stop fighting sooner rather than later.

he was exciting to me. Especially when something big happens. The other two can do the play by plays.

Frank was probably the worst ever because he didn't even bother to learn who the fighters were.

I remember when Chad Griggs had like 3 TKOs straight in SF and he said something like "Wow we didn't expect the BJJ guy to get a TKO"

Like did you not watch his last three fights under your own banner? Good Lord

He would be horrible, that motherfucker is screaming all the time. I even find him completely useless as an analyst, too by the way. He never tells me anything new and his reasoning behind some fight picks is laughable.

nothing particular. Maybe it's more when he introduces fighters. See the intial post. He also uses OUTSTANDING a lot. outstanding striking, wrestling whatever. Outstanding performance or simply OUTSTANDING. Basically. It seems all his commentary can be done with 20 phrases and 250 words in total. Kinda like Goldberg but not just as bad who only says great point Joe and "AND IT'S ALL OVER!"

I like Rogan but every dude with a left hook has the best left hand in the business. Also, if you have played football (soccer) you can kick through concrete.
