That song and walk on the wild side are the only listenable things on there... The rest of it is shit... It's the second best thing Reed was ever associated with, the other being "Loaded" which is only listenable because John Cale wasn't involved (enabling Doug Yule to actually "play a bass") and neither was Maureen Tucker (who was pregnant, thus enabling the album to involve someone who actually knows how to play the drums) ... the result is something approximating a halfway decent rock and roll record... "Who Loves The Sun?", "New Age" and "Head Held High" are all decent, enjoyable tracks... the first two illustrate how effective one of that yahoos songs can be in the hands of someone with a decent singing voice

Still, you know my stance... Reed was insanely overrated by hipster rock critics and DAFT, HAVERIN' MINGERS like YOU

Who loves the sun is boring pap. Sounds like a fucking Paul McCartney song (admittedly with much better lyrics).

it's arguably the best thing the guy ever wrote... happy music with a pleasant melody juxtaposed with depressing lyrics sung in a sweet voice... far more impressive than his typical shit

I like "New Age" better though...

Granted, this is all relative... It's still the Velvet Undergorund and Lou Reed, so it is inherently fucking lame and affected

Doug Yule's vocals are dull as dishwater.

    which serves those songs perfectly

Both of those songs would sound fucking preposterous with Reed croaking his way through them

Be careful with youtube... I have seen countless dudes illustrating various riffs and "licks" (I hate that term, lol) on there for various guitarists and some of them are just unbelievably awful and incorrect... I like to watch them to see the few guys that are really good and get the parts right

I can't think of any user names off hand that are real good

If you want, I'll watch some later on, specifically for Queen stuff and let you know who I think is worth learning from:dunno:

Taking this conversation in a completely different direction, here is a video of an entire show by who I can only imagine is Lok's favorite band and personal hero and role model, the legendary GG Allin and the his band the Murder Junkies. The show is barely 10 minutes long and they only get to play 2 and a half songs before the plug gets pulled and the cops break the show up. But in that short amount of time, GG is able to hit the stage naked, punch several audience members, grab a fan by the hair and drag him across the floor before squatting over him and trying to take a shit on him, successfully taking a shit on the floor and rubbing it all over his face and trying to break a bottle over his head.

I'm not sure how many Grammy's GG won in his career, I'll have to look it up. I can only assume it's a lot.

I found the bale interview. The interviewer (who looked like the dude from the chuckle brothers) asked him to sing the powerpuff girls theme tune. Which he did. Very strange hearing Bale in his English accent.
