Yeah we watched it last weekend. Beautifully shot with a eerie score. Goslings character is an interesting one but very simliar to Drive. Liotta plays Liotta but he does it well. Cooper puts in a decent performance as does the female leads. I really like that kid DeHann. He's putting together a pretty solid CV The place beyond the pines is an ambitious movie but Cianfrance just about pulls it off. In similar movies Hollywood tends to hint or assume you know what's going on. In this movie we get to see that back story. Very unusual.
Have you seen Blue Valentine by the same director? Just saw that the other day. I thought Gosling was brilliant. I am looking forward to this movie.
Yeah I came across Blue Valentine about 6-7 months ago. It's an amazing movie. I wathced it at home alone and was quite depressed after watching it. Powerful stuff.
Just watched it. It's like three movies in one. Pretty good, but i think many people here will hate it. I thought Cooper was very good in some scenes and average in others. Gosling was good all around. But a warning. He is not in the movie much. Oh and ray liota's small part was excellent.
I'll check out both...at some point. Been getting more into tv series lately. Doing the House of Cards thing and I think I'm going to check out The Following next.
The Following is trash, forget it. I like DeHaan but wasn't a big fan of the third act of this movie. I thought they tried too hard too create a family twist that wasn't necessary. The 1st act with Gosling and the older guy crony was the most compelling to me. The rest of the movie didn't really live up to what it was aspiring to IMO.
About 6-7 episodes. Would have stopped sooner, but it took a little while for the wife to let go of it.
He`s more interesting looking than great looking. He`ll probably be ugly as hell when he reaches Pitt`s age, who is still rather handsome.
He's one of those guys, who has little or no faults. Can act properly, is a singer/musician, can fight/box, races motorbikes, fucks hot women / splits with hot women amicably... All done with effortless cool-ery.
