Kinda think Kim Deal was the best songwriter in the Pixies. So simple yet fantastic.

Probably my least favourite Pixies song (no offence), apart from the screaming part

I'm laughing, but only to hide how confused and insecure that post made me.

King Crimson -- ridiculously skilled musicians capable of fantastic work when they are given a good artist's template to work on, who when left to their own devices produce THIS extremely dense, challenging and unfortunately, unlistenable music
    [IMG]

the strange bass/guitar hybrid instrument being played by Tony Levin (gentleman with shaved head) is a "Chapman Stick"... It is played via tapping and hammering the frets with both hands rather than picking the strings with one hand and fingering with the other... Very sensitive and active pickups combined with very low fretboard action allow it to be played this way

I have everything from King Crimson up to the early 1980s' trio of Discipline / Beat / Three Of A Perfect Pair.

Can't listen to them at all now....much like everything else from that era: it just bores me.

    Yup

i have a few King Crimson records... The first one (which is among the most pompous pop records ever released, superb album cover notwithstanding) as well as "Larks' Tongues", "Starless" and "Discipline" ... I bought them in my teenaged years, wowed by the musicianship and stoned enough not to notice the absence of songs

all four of the men in that clip are brilliant, unique musicians who have done awesome work, iconic even, on other people's recordings... Together they create undeniably unique, challenging music but it just isn't particularly GOOD

other than for a laugh or a "listen to that drummer! (Or guitarist, etc)" I haven't played a King Crimson record all the way through since Clinton was in office

I saw it in person up close once and it seemed pleasant. She was wearing a tiger suit with a tail though, maybe it was an optical illusion.

Is there any band who looks like they enjoy their jobs as professional artists more than Rancid?

As I said before, Kim wrote the best work in the Pixies:

King Crimson to open for The Pixies, terrifying the audience with their demonic noise with Hut on vocals

The new Pixies stuff sucks, and Kim isn't there any more so it isn't really the Pixies anymore, so probably not
