I have no recollection of a previous Spiderman film not winning its second week at the box office. Well, The Amazing Spiderman 2 not only did not accomplished that seemingly expected feat, but loss the top spot in humiliating fashion. the new Seth Rogen R-rated comedy Neighborgs took off with $49 million for a four day total of $53 million which are better numbers than the opening of the first The Hangover and it marks the best opening ever for a Seth Rogen live-action film. Spidey plummeted a 61% drop with $35 million which now puts in doubt if this film can equal the lackluster domestic gross of its previous film ($260 million), but don't feel too sorry for Sony Pictures: the film is doing very well overseas where it has reigned at the top for the last three weeks which proves that regardless of negative reviews, the Spiderman character is immensely popular worldwide. Of course it could have performed much better...if this movie were any good. In a distand third spot the chick flick The Other Woman captured $9.6 million for a three week total of $62 million. In the fourth spot and with an incredible 13% drop in its fourth week Heaven is For Real added $7.4 million for a total (and counting) of $75 million. This low budget film has a good chance of finishing its run domestically with similar numbers as the bigger budgeted Noah ($99.8 million, #17 spot). Captain America The Winter Soldier continues showing strong staying power by dropping only one notch 26% to spot number five with a take of $5.7 million. That puts the Marvel film domestic gross at $245.6 million and $450.6 million overseas for a total of $696 million worldwide...not bad for the character most cynics were calling the lamest of the Avengers. Rio 2 takes the sixth spot with $5 million for a $113 million domestic total and has a good chance of finishing wiith similar numbers to the first Rio. Debuting in the seventh spot Mom's Night Out failed to lure its target audience who apparently went to watch Cameron Diaz film. With a mere $4.3 million this film will exit the top ten by next week. Also bombing in its debut in the 8th spot the animated film Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return grossed a lousy $3.7 million. While its makers are scratching their heads why all those audiences that embraced Frozen ignored their family film, I guess most probably took hint from Dorothy: 'there is no place like home' and probably will catch it on a video rental. Rounding up the remaining top ten films, Divergent took the ninth spot with $1.7 million while Brick Mansions moved to the tenth spot with $1.6 million finally pushing out God's Not Dead ($1.4 million) from the top ten list.

$49 million are very good numbers for such a movie.

It appeals to young adults who like crude humour. Is the perfect counter product against The Other Woman type of comedy. Just like if they release a 'Eat, Pray, Love' type of film, the counter film will be 'Drink, Play, F*ck'.
