Why would a 40 YO be covered in zits on his body?

 

I don't know but I do know that Provodnikov would knock him dead... JMM still punches crisply, still throws outstanding combinations and looks like he still has good handspeed but Alvarado is not a puncher and he hurt him a few times when he let his hands go... JMM is too easy to hit for a banger like Provo... I doubt he'll ever fight the guy

 

I hope he does. Would be a great fight to see.

 

I am 40 Years Old. Work out 5 times a week. I am guessing PED's you can guess somthing else if you want. I doubt he fight Prov.

 

HBO put him up in a cheap, seedy hotel that weekend. Those were bed bug bites.

Alvarado is garbage but he still hurt JMM the few times he decided to just say fuck it and trade with the guy and he is no puncher... A real puncher would have turned the fight in his favor

I remember hearing a story about a sportswriter in New York swearing that Mike Piazza was on Steroids because he was in the Mets locker room and he noticed that Piazza had a bunch of back zits. Don't mention that for most of the guys career he sported an Italian Geri Curl, and probably glugged a gallon of Olive Oil a week.

Both these guys might be on PED's, but it's not because they have acne, or zits........which is a fairly common occurrence for many people, whether it be because of genetics or their diet.

He may be prone to acne already, and is showing it now because he came OFF of steroids for training. The treatment for acne? Steroids!

 

Agree. And for the record, I think Provodnikov is a bit overrated. At 140 pounds, I give Marquez a decent shot against any fighter that's going to come right at him. Stylistically it suits him. Well, as long as the fight takes place soon before JMM suddenly gets old or runs out of needles.

 

Provo hit Timmy the Head with everything he had and couldn't 'knock him dead'. No idea why people would presume that he would kill JMM who has shown his incredible recovery ability/durability over his career.

I very much agree with the Provo overrating comments.

I like him, and he's a little beast, but people who think he'll steamroll Marquez are in for a surprise if they fight.

 

Since when is Bradley somehow lesser-chinned than Marquez? Marquez has been hurt by guys like Juan Diaz in his career, guys who can't punch even a little bit...

LOL Provo badly hurt Timmy every single time he landed and was about 15 seconds from stopping him entirely and Bradley is way harder to hit than Marquez (who Bradley beat, if you recall)

Did you guys see the fight the another night? Alvarado can't punch and he hurt the guy numerous times

Provo will finish him inside the distance if they ever fight... JMM continues to be overrated, ironically enough, based on his having an unusually high degree of success against the best aggressive fighter of the last 10-15 years... but every other aggressive guy he's been in with, he's gone life and death and none of them could punch like Provodnikov... Diaz, Katsidis, Alvarado... All bullshit punchers, all of them backed him up and hurt him at times... Outside of the possibility of Provo getting hurt by Marquez's punches (which we can only speculate on) it seems pretty goddamned obvious that Provodnikov can hurt him badly and would do so given JMM's less than great defense

Yup... his chin and his defense put him in a lot of hard fights

I rmember that dude Ramonza used to wax poetic about Marquez while dismissing Sanchez because of his "terrible defense"

I thought that was nuts... First of all, Sanchez had a great chin and secondly he got hit less often than Marquez did!

JMM is a tremendous offensive fighter, terrific sense of distance, excellent accurate puncher and has a huge heart... He's also defensively suspect, not the hardest guy in the world to hurt and has a lot of trouble when he has to lead

 

And he's an awesome fighter, and he's still a treat to watch at 40. I really enjoyed his fight against Alvarado! Boxing would be healthier with a few more fighters like Marquez.

 

Provodnikov and Rios are made to order for marquez.
